Well men, I am now a converted Corvette owner. Picked up a '02 HD about an hour ago. My 5 year old son says it is way cooler than a corvette.

it was in the rear console.. we are baffled.

i like the little details on the truck..


the black dots around the window are actually little HD logos.
theres also a HD & Ford logo at the bottom middle of the windshield..

i thought the headlamps or foglights had the same logo stamped in them? or was that just for the 2000 year model? (another friend of mine has a 00 HD)

a few things before i forget tom... when you get an oil change, tell them to put 5.5 quarts in it.. it keeps some of the oil out of the intake..

we need to bypass the "straw" coming out of the drivers side valve cover, to help keep the oil out too.. i'll show you what i did.

i can get you the shift kit & 4X4 tranny pan when you need it.. don't order one..

i'm not sure if your front end is gonna make the clunk/pop sound, but i have the fix for that too.

also: i have that light up logo that will fit on the front of your truck.

The black mystery cloth with the straps on each corner is used to cover the front and rear console lids during shipping. I guess the dealer removed it before they sold you the car.

 

My wife says keep it. I don't know why. Thanks for the links Brooks, soon, very soon, the mods will begin. They're are about to pick up the vette this morning. I had to take it for one last spin in the neighborhood.

 

clonetek, that "thing" kinda looks like a seat cover for the bottom part??? o i just read what BLWN_HD#34 said. never mind then.

you do have the little logo's on the headlights, its on the parking light, on the orange reflector strip, towards the wheel side. It hard to find, its just a little flat outline of the emblem. The 00's didn't come with the HD emblem on the headlights, or fogs, or even windshield, OR keys. we got riped offf on that stuff. (are you sure your friend has emblems on the lights on his 00??? maybe i missed something)

i thought the 01-02 HD's had a logo stamped on the metal reflector in the middle of the headlight.. the 01-02 lightnings have SVT stamped on theirs.. (i looked thru the pics of my buds 00 HD, and i must have been mistaken. sorry)

also, as for the headlights. the 00 and 01 headlights for harleys are exactly the same. Neither have HD emblems on them, and neither are clear like the L's are. THe 02 HD headlights are clear like the L's, and have a little outline of a HD emblem (like the ones on the windshield) located on the orange reflector strip on the turn signal unit. So in that pic (although the logo is too small to see in the pic) the logo would be located at the far left bottom. and there isn't anything on the bulb like the L's have SVT on the bulb. I hope this clears it up a little.

now ya just need to get pics of your L (you do have a L right?) your friend's 00 HD, and mystery's 02 HD, all together in one pic. That would look awsome. I'm trying to find some one wiht a 01 HD in my area so i can take pics of my 00, my friends 02 and whoever's 01 together in one pic, and maybe a black L too.



and here's a pic of my friend's key from his 02. my dealer offered to get me replacement keys for mine with the logo's.

 

what's that above the gas pedal on the console thing? below the gauges and steering wheel? IS that a little storage spot? I haven't driven my friend's 02 in a couple weeks, and i don't remember that being there, but i guess it is. I know its not in my 00. Just noticing some more little improvments ford made, even if its a little storage tray thingy.

*edit* hey i just noticed that there isn't an airbag shut off key on his dash. did they move it? or not put it on the screws cuz they have the bigger back seats?

 

hmm... i'm trying to figure out how many drive shaft loops we're gonna mount on tom's (mystery fan) truck.. 2? 4? LOL

i think he wants to drop it 2" out back & add a lightning sway bar to the rear. (it doesn't have one back there)

i'm about to go over there & see if i can get that stupid front license plate bracket off.. hehe.. its gonna be fun trying to get to the bolts that hold it on..

yeah, thats a little cubbyhole.. the 99 lightnings had that, but they didnt do it on the 00-02 lightnings.

we were wondering about the no airbag shutoff thing also.. we surmised that because it has 4 doors & 4 seats, they dont have to have one..

 

yeah, that's probably right, cuz on the 00 HD with the smaller bench seat in the back, i guess you may put a child seat in the front, and that's why there's the switch for the airbag, but in the screws, since they have 4 full size seats, i guess they don't have to.

anyway, have you gotten under the 02 HD to look at the two piece driveshaft? i don't think you could use more than one driveshaft loop, but then again, i don't really know what i'm talking about in this department.
I also realized that if anyof you 02HD guys are trying to catch up to the L guys, by trying to change back everything you can performance wise to match the L's (i remember one person saying they were gonna change the exhaust and pullys and such) you can always put in the lighter aluminum driveshaft that the L's and 00-01 HD's came with instead of the heavier steel 2 piece that you guys have. and it looks prettier too cuz it doesn't get all rusty.


clonetek, the bracket shouldn't be hard to get off. I was gonna take mine off, but i didn't cuz with my luck i'd get ANOTHER ticket.
anyway, when i was looking to see if it could be put back on, i noticed it was put on with little plastic one time use bolt type thingys. kinda like a zip tie screw. But you should only have to cut two tabs and it should come off. If you get caught, just say that it fell off, and tell them that you have to get a new bracket.

As for the chromed lower grille, i'd say check with blwnhd#34 (sp? sorry hard to remember all these abbreviated names) cuz he's gettin a lower grille fabricated that will match the upper grille. (matching tubes, wouldn't be smaller like your black ones) I've seen it on one other HD on "the other f150 site" and it looks great. Maybe #34 can get you his guy's number that's doing his.

Here in Louisiana, we use rear license plates only. I was thinking of having a piece made with a front harley decal and illuminating it from the rear. Several Firebird owner's have done it in the area and their bird look really cool. Plus, I will be checking with a local decal shop about filling in my harley logo on the wheels with orange and black decals. The wheels need a little offset IMHO.

mystery fan: i think you should do the orange/black stickers on the centercaps.. if they look like ***, you can always peel them off.
hey, i also have a guage pod that will fit your truck.. if you want to add a boost guage.. (i know you do!) lol

356: the lightning driveshaft will not fit on his truck.. that 2 piece driveshaft is way longer! plus, i wouldn't upgrade to the aluminum driveshaft anyway.. too many lightning guys are breaking theirs.. i'll keep my srong steel one.
i would also leave the larger upper pulley on the HD, because it wont be as prone to slipping under boost. then i'd throw a 4-6lb lower pulley on it.
