Anyone put a sub in an '02?

I'm upgrading my stereo system. None of my local shops know where to put a sub. Has anyone done this, if so, what did you do? JLAudio's site says they have one to fit in the console of the Harley, but when you look at it, it's a regular F-150 console.

Sub in center console

you can check the stereo forum and search for Stealth Box. I put my own box in the back console. It's a JL8W6. I feed it with a 100 watt amp channel from a 5 channel amp.

good luck. let me know if you want pictures.

I just got done installing the sub enclosure from a 02' Lincoln Blackwood. Since the 02' Harley addition has the same cab as the Blackwood it fits exactly behind the rear console. I read somewhere that the sound system was designed by Alpine so some thought was given to the overall design. It is by no means overwhelming with an 8" driver but sounds great with my Polk Audio Momo's driving by and audiobahn amp and no modifications were required to the vehicle. MSRP is around $380 ish. Hope this helps.

Post Blackwood Sub

HarleyTC95,

The Blackwood solution sounds like a great one, especially if minimal modification is required. Do you happen to have the part number for the Blackwood sub?

Bigred4X4

The part number is 0 2C6Z - 18C804 - BA. I would send a picture but, there is nothing to show, it is a factory designed part that has a speaker grill cover instead of the 10" x 10" plastic plug that currently resides behind the rear console and it required NO modifications. Gotta love it! Dealer Wholesale from a local Lincoln dealer was $267.42... It was going to cost me around $500 just to make a custom fiberglass sub enclosure, glad I didn't.

Many thanks on the part number. I love it when a simple and elegant solution can be found.

BigIke,

I just ordered one from Teresa at http://www.oemfordparts.com and the quoted price was 235.99. You can reach her at (800) 256-7933.

Thanks Bigred4x4. Now let me get this straight. This enclosure goes behind the back seat panel, behind the rear seat console? It holds an 8" sub? And you keep all the functionality of the console?

BigIke,

From the description given to me by HarleyTC95 and Ford parts, this piece will replace the semi-rectangluar insert that is directly behind the rear seat console. You will notice that you have two access panels behind your two rear seats. There is also one directly behind the rear seat console, which the sub enclosure will replace. So to make a short story long This sub enclosure will not interfere with or hinder the use of your rear seat console. That is what makes this part so simple and elegant. Not only will it look factory installed.....It is.

Hi Guys,

I think I have a better solution. I purchased two of the new Rockfordfostgate 6.5 woofers. That's right 6.5! I have one under each of the rear seats inside a custom enclosure that looks stock. The response from the two 6.5's are amazing. If you think about it , it's like having one 12" sub.

I'm away from home right now but I can get pics up by tomorrow night. I wish you guys could hear my system you would be amazed. The total cost with the woofers was 283.00. If I wanted to I could still place another 10" woofer in the rear using the lincon blackwood enclosure.

BlownHD34,
Please post pics when you can. I would appreciate it.
I'm just trying to weigh all the options. JL makes one, but they want >500 for it....

BigIke,

I will try to ge the pics up as soon as I can. By the way, the JL Audio stealth box can only hold a 10' woofer. It takes up a lot of room and must be installed in the front console. Please trust me on this one. My solution saves space, looks neat and clean, is very stealth, sounds awesome, and is very inexpensive.

Yeah, I know. What do you have driving the6.5's? I've got the 5 channel alpine, v-12. If you could post pics and give me the rough dimensions of the box, that would be great. Thanks for your help.
