Anyone painted their calipers yet?
Anyone painted their calipers yet?
I can't decide if harley orange on my calipers would look nice or rice? Has anyone done this? Also if looks to ricey, can the paint be removed easily? I like the silver, but the orange would stand out nicely against the 20s. I have done this mod on my 99 vette and it looks sweet. (red paint on vette) Any pics, please post.

Can't say I have the Harley orange, but I painted mine Ford blue. The paint is easy to strip. Just buy some paint remover or naval jelly from the auto parts store and it will come right off.
Almost painted mine Orange, but I couldn't find the right color paint. Thankful about it now, hindsight tells me that it might look a little too "Honda Civicesque," at least for my taste. I decided however to paint them black, as not to take away from the wheels.

i was thinking about doing that. I'll be rotating my tires in about 1500 more miles (around june) and changing the oil, and i was thinking about painting them. Just gotta decide what color. I was thinking either silver, or red to match the pinstriping since its not really true orange. Do i have to spray it on? or can i do it with a brush? Thanks
Hey guys:
Painted mine red&black w/ Foliatec (sp?) two part epoxy brush on. Tuff as nails when dry. I can't see this easily coming off if you don't like it however.
Red picks up the flame stripe on the grey '02. You will need black as an accent (IMO) as some of the pad retainers will rust over time especially on the rears.
Many of the aftermarket guys, (Godfather's etc.) sell this paint. Eastwood now lists "epoxy brake caliper paint" in their catalog too. It's about $45.00 for the system, and although it looks like a small amount, I had enough to do three coats on all four calipers and still had 1/3 left. I have also heard of guys using engine enamel (try chrysler orange), but the overspray thing scares me.

Frank

I had a 95 GT with gold striping, I painted the calpiers to match. Easiest way if using a spraycan is to spray a s**t load on anything which will hold the paint (ie part of a shoe box), then brush it on. I used engine block paint and it stayed on fine.
I think next time I rotate my tires I will go with the Harley Orange to match the striping. Doesn't hurt being a SF Giants fan either.

Yes, I painted the rotors black and the calipers silver on my '00. The colors don't jump out at you, but it gives the wheels a nice detailed look. Once you get a 20" heavy wheel off, you just might want to detail more of the black parts, that don't really have that good of paint on them. I did mine, one wheel a night.
Good Luck
