I have posted the question before and did not really get the answer i needed. So here goes again... Can someone please post a reply for the specs for a muffler. I am going with the 40 series flowmaster and they asked me the diameter in/out.I know that it is single in and dual out but i dont know if it is right or left offset or center. So please post the diameter in/out and if it would be right/left/center offset. Thank you in advance.

 

I have a 2002 and mine are duel in and duel out so I can't help you. All of the lightning sites state you can't get any more HP out of the muffler by switching brands.
Why don't you just crawl under the car and measure it.

I know this is your truck and you can do whatever you want...but you destroyed the original look of the harley-i just couldn't stand not saying something-it just looks ALOT different

 

That is a very BOLD statement... In which way did i "destroy" the look of the truck?

 

I think it looks better that way than with the orange stripe. To each there own. Lookin good.

 

I would probably keep my strip but I don't think it looks bad.The first thing I noticed was his tails.But I think his truck looks good also

 

I don't exactly "admire" the big wide stripes on the 01's myself either. I prefer the more refined, thinner stripes my 00 has. But hey, whoever pays 35g's for a truck has the right to do as they please, at least in my own opinion.

Why do you want to go flowmaster, they aren't even stainless, and they have that tinny chamber sound. The lightning guys use Magnaflow. I went true duals on mine, the right kind of sound, and it's stainless, guaranteed for life. Dual in / dual out, 2.5" with the built in crossover pipe in the 14486.

But, your bucks, your truck.

And I've been thinking about dumping the stripes and putting a very dark grey, almost ghost looking flame job on the front. Nothing loud, real subtle.

 

If you read my previous post (from a while back) it explains why the stripe is off. I will post it in here but after the re-paint and i saw the truck without the stripe i asked the auto body shop to leave them off. I thought it looked smoother. I have the stripes in my garage still in the box from Ford. I am not planning on putting them back on unless i sell (which i am not planning on) and leave the choice up to the buyer if they want them on. I was just a little offended by Ricekickers statement. The word "DESTROYED" is a very strong word. I will put my previous post below.....

Horror Story
Greetings All,
I just wanted to share my horror story now that I have finally somewhat gotten over it. It all started on a hot sunny day in the New York/ New Jersey Summer. Myself and a bunch of friends had tickets to Dysfunctional Family Picnic at the Jones Beach Amphitheater in NY. As soon as we pulled in, a cop car with 2 cops in it hit a Honda Passport filled with girls and flipped it. Anyways, after having several "adult beverages" we were packing up our coolers and BBQ Grill to enter the concert from the partying lot, i mean parking lot when this guy comes zooming into the spot behind my truck where the tailgate was facing. We were all sitting in our lawn chairs in that spot and were just about finished packing up when he starts yelling out the window " move up man so we can park here". Mind you there is a whole huge parking lot there with hundreds of more spots, but we closed the tailgate and he said it again. So we were like come on in, evidently he meant move the truck up because the bumper was slightly into that spot. So I told him that i could not move up because the front of my truck would stick out too far and get clipped on the front (long long truck!). He had a small little hatchback car that would fit into the spot anyway so i assisted him to pull right up to my bumper. He and his friends got out and began to drink some beers. We shook thier hands and left to enter the concert. A few hours later one of my friends was not feeling well and asked to sit in the truck. I said sure chucked him the keys. 20 mins later he comes running back into the concert and says "someone ****ed up your truck"! I ran out into the parking lot to see that these bas**rds took turns whipping thier beer bottles thru the back sliding rear window and scratched the word "TAG" about 10 inches on the back passenger quater panel. I WAS FREAKING OUT BECAUSE THAT CAR WAS NOT IN THAT SPOT ANYMORE! It took me the next 2 1/2 hours to clean the glass out from every crease of those seats just to drive home. You think this is the end? It had just began for me. SO the next day my friend I hadnt seen in a while tells me his Dad owns a Auto Body Shop. I decided to take it to him. After nearly 3 weeks of him having it i go to pick it up and i am looking at it and noticing the paint is very dull and swirly and the inside was just vaccumed, there was still glass in the defroster vents and everything. So i leave without saying a word figuring it just needed a detail and it was dusk out. The next day i took it to get detailed and the guy at the shop goes "What happened to this beautiful truck!" I proceded to tel him the story and he goes "So why did he paint the whole side of the truck?" And i said he did? He showed me the paint bead all the way up the truck where this Bas**rd just taped off and painted from the pinstipe up, from back to the front quater panel. I almost fainted. Then he goes to the other side and says he did it there too! He suggested i stop payment and get a lawyer. I could not get my friends Dad put in jail for Insurance fraud because that is what he did. He scraped and painted both sides of the truck for more money for himself! I went straight to the bank and stopped payment on the check and drove to his shop. After hearing him deny everything for 1 1/2 hours I left. So i decided to just take it to the best place around and have it painted again. In the end the second guy that did the work did a better job than Ford! There is alot of orange peel on the factory paint i noticed when i got it, now ther is no more. 8 total weeks without my truck was so bad. I also ended up loosing a friend because his dis-honest bulshi**ng father told him that i ripped him off!

that was harsh saying that he ruined the harley look of it. If someone changed the rims, emblems, etc.. then that would be ruining the look of the HD, but it only looks like he put clear corners, and L tails, and no pinstripe, he's just personalizing the truck to his liking. I personally like the stock head/tails, and the pinstripe, but thats just my preference. I think it makes the truck stick out a little more, but to each his own. I forgot all about that incident. What a shame to mess up a truck as beautiful as a HD. Definately post some pics when ya can. Glad everything turned out okay.

 

Well I guess I "destroyed" my 02 as well. I installed a Cervini hood, clear tails, lightning third brake light, custom stereo, and a host of other mods.

Remember the old saying "one mans junk is another mans gold"

Just go out and buy a cheap set of calipers (Sears has'em) and measure the OD of the pipe. It the pipe is 1/16 thick, you can pretty much judge the ID of it.
