Question Gas Milage

I'm only getting 13.8 mpg on my V8 5.4 01HD. I see some of you getting close to 15 mpg. Any suggestions on why it's like this?

Ease your right foot off the gas pedal that will help tremendously All kidding aside, I was getting 16-18mpg when I had my 01. I'm now getting about 14-17 with my 02. Not sure why your getting such low mileage.

I get solidly in the 17's all the time at around 75mph. If I drop it back to 65 and take it easy she'll hit in the 18's, but that's no fun, especially with the Magnaflow exhaust. Just can't take it easy anymore.

I got a deplorable 12.3 mpg on my first tank, so I eased up, and shot up to 12.9 on my second tank! (I guess I don't know what "ease up" means.)

My 02HD is getting a whopping 12.3mpg.

But I drive it like my 01L, so that probably is the problem!

My '00 HD is averaging between 18 and 20 mpg to the Imperial gallon--around 15 to the US gal; didn't notice much diff when the tonneau went on last year like some suggested. Took out over 350# of winter weight from the bed this weekend and couldn't help stomping it to get added oomph off the line--this kinda driving is not gonna save gas. The regular 5.4 is a thirsty bugger and can deliver 9 sec aprox runs to 60. Supercharged? Like my L body shop guy with a chipped and K&N'd and getting around 10 mpg says, "It's the only toy my wife doesn't have a say in how much money it costs, because she loves it too, mainly from the passanger seat." If you can afford the truck then you gotta afford the gas. You '02 guys have something special just like we '00 guys. We drive, people's heads turn--this weekend was no exception--cause it's the price of ownership. Now, I'm thinking there's an '02 in my future

I've been averaging about 15 mpg since I picked up my 01 about a year ago. I too did not notice any difference when I had my bed cover installed. I think that the supercrew design is not affected by the drag as much due to the shorter bed and extended length of the cab. Don't forget that there are differences in fuel from one region to another which might have something to do with some of the differences in fuel consumption.

I kept track of my gas milage for about 10,000 miles on my '01 Harley. Aside from a few high 15s on highway cruises, the MPG remained consistently at or around 12 to 13.

My '01 HD averages at about 10-11 MPG. Maybe I should stop revving her up at stoplights. I also tend to slam on it when I can.

This is exactly why I am also buying a 1985 CRX SI--42mpg! Besides, I need something to drive in the rain.
