Its HERE!
Hello Gents,
Got my truck in yesterday morning. It wasn't scheduled to arrive until 4/1, so maybe the rest of you guys won't have to wait as long as expected. Like everyone has already stated, the truck is awesome. However, Shadow 9, you were right, the *** end does stick up way too much and definitely needs to be brought down. My 3/4 drop will take care of that but I am wondering if the 2" drop in the front (stock springs are already 1" lower so my 3" springs should actually only lower the truck 2") is going to be too much. If it is to low, I sure could have saved a lot of money by buying the 2" rear shackles vs. the complete 3/4 kit!
Put my 01 L tailights in last night; they look REALLY good. Thanks for the idea mrgrantsr.
I have put about 200 miles on it so far and I have yet to read any manuals to learn about all the "bells and whistles". I just noticed this morning that on the left hand side of the steering wheel below the light switch is a button to adjust the postion of the pedals!
The truck does have good power. However, I would really like to get it back to the L's 385hp. However, I was trying to control myself through the break-in process; I figured after 1000 miles I should be able to romp on it like I want. BUT, driving in Charlotte yesterday I noticed a Honda S2000 coming up quick. He passed me as well as everyone else and I didnt think anything of it....until I met him at the stoplight. Now I'm thinking should I or shouldn't I??????? The light turns green and..yep you guessed it, I floored it. I could tell that he was giving it all he had because he was right at my back bumper, but he was unable to come around until I let off, which was around 60, so technically a KILL!
Anyway, I hope the rest of you get your truck soon. I'm sure you won't be dissappointed.

Glad to hear you have your HD. Mind is expected April 15 if I can wait that long.
Let me known about the 3/4 lowering as this is what I would have done. Will wait to see the truck. I think there could be a problem with the 2 pc driveshaft with the 4" rear drop. Will be talking to Bell Tech next about another matter and will ask about our HD to see if they looked at it or will be the same as the existing F150.
Well enjoy and post some pics when you can.

Ok,
I purchased the entire Belltech 3/4 kit for my 2002 HD vs. just the 2" shackles--MISTAKE! I should have went with what everyone else was doing. We installed the hangers and shackles first, just to see what it was going to look like--took about 3 1/2 hours. It really dropped the tail end. But after looking at the front end, we decided that it was not going to be a good idea to drop the front another 2". The L guys may be doing this, but they don't have that fender flair lip to deal with. I was afraid that lip would chew up the tires. So, this is what I'm going to do. I left the Belltech 2" hangers on (that is what took so long to put on) and put the stock shackles back on; the truck is now lowered 2" in the rear. I am also going to get 2" coils for the front to drop it another inch. This should give me the stance that I am looking for. I found that by dropping the rear 2", the front is about 1/2 higher and I can't have that! By the way the 4" drop in the rear did bottom out and the ride was way to harsh for my taste.
So bottom line is this, don't spend the $360 for the 3/4 kit, your not going to like it--trust me, and I don't think the front can be dropped that much without some major work. Get the $60 2" shackles and go with a 2" coil if you want it to be fairly level to slightly raked. It would be interesting to see if the people that have installed just the 2" shackles are now slightly lower in the rear. I think you will get the most accurate reading if you measure from the top lip of the wheel to the top of the fender lip. I personally don't like having the front higher (any amount) than the rear. This has been a pain but once I get the stance that I am looking for I will be happy.

Interesting. I initially installed the rear shackles at the 1" setting... looked a little better, but still definitely too high in the rear. Then changed it to the 2" setting. Much better. Even at the 2" setting the rear is still about an inch or so higher than the front. Slight front rake--just the way I like it. I've probably had a hundred people compliment the way the truck sits. Two other people that have ordered '02 HD's have ordered the shackles after seeing mine. Like I said before, best $60 you'll ever spend!
slingshot, and all you other 02 hd owners. You guys have some sweet lookin hd's. U guys need to get some gallerys up and goin so i can admire your trucks though. Anyway, i guess us 00 hd owners got lucky, maybe because its the supercab not the screw, that our back end doesn't seem to stick up as much. I love it when these dodge guys come up to me and ask how much i've lowered my hd, and i say it came that way
OK, forget everything that I have said. Wait till you see the stance of my truck now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If this isn't "Billy Bad ***" I don't know what is! I'll try to get the pixs on later today. If you are wanting a true raked look, STAY TUNED!
#356, I finally got the link to my gallery up and running. There are only a few pix because I am waiting for my hood to be put on. After that I will go camera crazy! The pictures really don't do the lowering job any justice. It is truly awesome in person (at least in my opinion).
For those of you that are interested (Manny, your going to love this) I did end up using the 3" coils on the front which ultimately dropped the truck 2". Since we had already drilled out the rivets on the stock hangers, we left the Belltech hangers on, giving the truck the 2" in the rear. I am currently using the stock shocks, although I do have the Nitro's if I choose to use them. However, the ride is fine and I don't know if the Nitro's would be any better. For those of you that have used them, I would like to hear your opinions on how they ride vs. the stock shocks.
