Potential Newbie

Hello All-
I've owned a number of F-150's with the most recent being an 06' King Ranch. I sold that truck a few years ago and now have a wild hair for an HD truck.

I want an older one and have been researching the different years. I think I've narrowed it down to an 03, 08 or 11'

I've never owned a SC truck so am leaning more toward the 03 & 08' although The 11' looks to be a monster.

I'd love your thoughts as I will be making this purchase in 2-3 months.

I would also GREATLY appreciate any advice you can offer with regards to fair price ranges for these years. Whatever one I get I'm going to try to stay under let's say 60K miles.

From what I see, it looks like these trucks are all priced on the open market above NADA clean retail. Are they just shooting for the moon or is this what they're going for.

Thank you all in advance.
Mike

The 03 has a supercharged 5.4, a slightly detuned Lightning engine. The 08 has a 5.4 3 valve normally aspirated, which wasn't a great engine and I personally would stay away from it. The 2011 has a NA 6.2, which is a GREAT engine.

Even the SC optioned 08' motor is undesirable?
Isn't that the Saleen SC?

Yes, the Saleen was an option. The stock 5.4 was standard in the H-D.

I don't like the 5.4 3V because of the spark plug and cam phaser issues.

Yes, the 5.4 2 valve was almost bulletproof. So is the 6.2 in the newer ones.

Agreed. Avoid 3v 5.4 2004-2008.5
