New Owner: 2006 HD have a few questions

just picked up a 2006 HD. I have a few mods in mind. looking for an hid kit. any suggestions? also I cant seem to figure out what size bulbs I need? 9007 or h13.

Also looking to add a sub. any suggestion on where to look for a sub box?

I am new to the truck world so need some help with finding aftermarket sites for them.

thanks in advance.

Most people will recommend that you retrofit your headlights (do a Google search or search on here for more info on that) vs. throwing an HID kit into the headlights as they are because HIDs blind other drivers when they're not in a projector. I don't have any sort of HID set up on my own 2006 SuperCrew, but I can certainly tell the difference between a normal HID kit and a proper retrofit. There's TRS (The Retrofit Source) and one other major company that I can't think of right now. A retrofit is more expensive though.

Personally, I'd buy a box from anywhere on the internet or eBay, and get in coated in bedliner if you want better sound quality (it completely seals the box and makes it airtight). Really nice sub boxes cost an arm and a leg, and though they sound noticeably better than cheap ones, the difference in quality doesn't justify the huge difference in price. I want to say I paid about $80 for mine that fits two 12" subs.

bulb size is 9008 or h13 go with sylvania silverstars or Phillips crystalvision.....imo

hid PnP bulbs need a projector lens to properly focus the light and disperse it into an even pattern....yer stock headlight housings lack the projector lens to do this

thanks for the info guys. I know all about projectors, but I cant afford a retro fit at this time. I was just thinking of getting some hids but there was so much confusion on the internet about the bulb size.

as far as a box goes. I couldn't seem to find one for the 2006 extended cab. but ill do some searching.

anyone know what supercharger I could go with if I want to boost this thing down the line?

then save your money until you can do it the correct way. oncoming traffic will thank you, and people who have knowledge about proper headlight set ups will give you a lot more respect

I don't know of any aftermarket projector headlights that are of good quality. There may be some, but I would have to think they'd be approaching retrofit money.

Is the back seat itself in an extended cab different than a Screw? I know I should know the answer to this, but can't seem to remember at the moment. It's possible that the only difference is in the amount of leg room and that the seats themselves are the same. It would certainly make financial sense if Ford had gone that route.

Superchargers are in a whole 'nother ballpark! Gotta ask the forced induction guys about that. I like twin screws or Whipples because of how their power band is, but it's not like I have one haha

yea I have no idea about the back seats and if they are the same as the supercrew, I don't even know how to get the back seats down yet.

as far as blowers, I would have to agree. I have a twinscrew on my Honda.....hehe. so I def know the advantages of having a blower. plus it would be cool to have my "toy" car, and my work/dd car to have twin screws on them.

A supercharged Honda? Nice! I can't say I've ever seen one with anything other than a turbo

I had an 06 HD supercab before my current truck and I ended up going with a JL Audio stealthbox. The Stealthbox application for those trucks are a single 10" W3 in a ported fiberglass enclosure. They are a little pricey, but for a single 10" sub, it really gets down. No leg room lost and bolts into place using a factory hole. Loved it.

Mmm gotta love that whine!

So I gotta ask, are you a sadist or is your name just something interesting that you came up with? I am merely curious, no malicious anything and I promise I won't judge. Two of the guys I work with are and I know satan is sometimes referred to as "him."

Hahaha cool. One of the guys at my work has "66sic" as the license plate on his bike and apparently that's a Slit Knot song
