Unhappy Safety Recall #01s21

Anyone else get their safety recall letter today? I thought they fixed this with the information gathered during the last seatbelt fiasco!

does any one get the big picture here???????????????

They build the stuff so cheap that its always failing.
think about it. they only recall safety and emissions, what about all the other stuff on the trucks, ford just wash there hands of it once its over the curb.

Give me a break. If Ford is selling to the lowest bid and its cheap stuff that has to be recalled. Who wins. Ford does thats why Ford has 30 billion in surplus money laying around to buy Volvo and Range Rover and Mazda and Jag and Austen Marten and what ever else they are doing with all the money Ford has scamed by selling cheap product.

tampa-dude - you're can't vent like that... you own 4 fords! hehe

It's this simple. There are occasions where design ideas are great, prototypes are great but real world usage isn't so great. I deal with this all the time in software development. Friends of mine deal with it with their Mechanical Engineering jobs.

Ford (or it's subs) isn't immune to the process.... solid designs take years of troubleshooting, iterating through versions, etc. I love my truck and the truck before it and the truck BEFORE it. They were (are) all Ford trucks. I'll never own another manufacturer's truck, even if I have to deal with pesky little issues.

Wink Uh...

Tampa.... Sheesh!!!!

I agree with bikestudga, btw. I have owned Fords since the early '90s after abandoning Ford in the 70's and going rice. Have have had great luck with all of them now. The Harley truck is really well made. My latest acquisition, a 2001 Mercury Moutaineer is the first Ford vehicle that has ever gone in for warranty. It had a leaky seal on the All Wheel Drive. That's a pretty fair record.

Am wondering if this safety recall is for the 2001, the 2000 or both? I haven't received anything yet.

Safety Recall #01s21

I recv'd my recall notice last week. I still need to call and make an appt...

I do not see a problem with the recall myself. My 11 year old son had trouble buckleing the right front shoulder harness. I told him it didn't matter, he needed to be in the back cab. He is to small to be in front seat.

The recall states, that "some of the included vehicles, it may be possible that either or both of the front, outboard seatbelt buckles may not fully latch if the restraint is fastened slowly or using very low force." As far as I know, this recall only pertains to the new SIR seats,in the 2001 models.

Personally, I prefer FORD notifying me of a possible malfunction. I had several problems with 2 new Chevy Trucks. The dealership, Chevrolet, nor General Motors could have cared less, whether I had problems corrected with my truck. After several Letters and complaints, I gave up on Chevrolet permanantly. This is my 3rd new FORD truck, and I plan on keeping it for a long time.

the point is that when a company redesigns something its for a reason. there are two reasons 1) lower cost to the company so there profits increase 2) two make the product better!
witch one do you think Ford choose? LOWER COST cause it sure ain't better (having to recall the thing). So we lose, we lose time bringing it back to the dealer, and we lose with a cheaper product that fails! Get the picture better!!!!!!

Recall Taken Care Of...

Ok, All...

I took my truck in yesterday, took all of 5 minutes. They put a latch tester on it, and checked to see if it would release on it's own. I watched the Service Rep do it in the parking lot. He stated they hadn't come across any bad units as of yet. (IE. This Dealership)

I knew mine were ok, but wanted to have it verified by the Dealer.

On another note, we shouldn't feel to bad. How about the poor GM owner's, who purchased the first 35,000 TrailBlazer's, Bravada's, and Envoy's. They were having front end components failing at several speeds. Losing steering on the road tends to SUCK... I would assume, that is. GM told them to call a TOW truck, not to even chance driving it to the dealer. GM would pick up the tab on the TOW.

ps. I Still prefer My FORD's, over any of my past GM products.

Hi there!
To Ranchero1968, good for you! I'm also a die hard Ford fan. Have no complaints and if I did Oh Well! Stuff happens! I had my truck in a show today and beyond all the water spots it was one of the best attractions! Have to get a water softener to wash my truck now...Go figure. LOL!
Cindy.
