Did have a 5.4 that gave me 19.6 avg.
From what I'm reading , don't expect more then 14 mpg from the 6.2
Not impressed with the 13.5 mpg on the 5L I'm getting.... that's way less then the 5.4. i had
If i was to buy a truck today, I'd definitely go with the 6.2. over the 5L.

Correction: It's 17.4 mpg on my 5L , not 13.5 ..

That's the worst I've heard with a 5.0. Not good.

Just had one of my moments earlier on...
That would be awful. It's 17.4 mpg on my 5L , not 13.5

Whew! That is about where mine was in mixed driving before I installed softer tires.

In my 2008 KR F150 4x4 5.4L I was getting right at 12.0mpg (never reset) after 80k miles, Royal Purple everywhere, 33" BFG's for most of those 80k miles. Cold Air, Exhaust and tune.

First 15k of my 2012 HD F150 AWD, I am getting 11.6mpg (never reset), this is with cold air exhaust and tune, I haven't gone to the Royal Purple yet but will around 30k miles. On my last road trip using the odometer "b" i got right at 14mpg, this is in Texas traveling at 82mph for 300 miles or so.

I am currently averaging 15.7 mpg with my 2012 HD... 2 wheel drive... My driving is about 50-50 hwy-city. The dash said 14.3 mpg when I bought it and has done nothing but go up since I've owned it. It was hanging around 15.0-15.1 mpg until I installed a K&N CAI (the HDPE tube, NOT the aluminum tube) and since then it has increased to 15.7 mpg. My driving habits MAY have improved a little too. I've never reset it and it's my daily driver. I couldn't be happier with my purchase! I owned an 06 HD previous to this truck and my average mpg never went above 15.3 (reset only once when I purchased the truck) and compared to my 2012 that old 5.4 was GUTLESS.... Not to mention that the 06 weighted about 900 lbs less...

Just to add to the fact about it being a 2wd and comparing mpg numbers, here's a little production number info. In 2012 only 4,274 HD's were produced total. Out of those, only 517 were built with a 2wd drivetrain. That includes both colors. As far as the color breakdown goes, Ford told me that there were approximately 1,100 less white ones produced than black. That being said, they couldn't give me the breakdown for how many 2wd or 4wd of each color. Only the figures in color breakdown and drivetrain breakdown.

These are the figures as provided to me by Ford. The color numbers dont add up, but when I double checked with them on it they said those were the figures that they had.
4,274 total
2,507 black
1,528 white
3,757 4x4
517 4x4

I'm assuming most the mpg numbers posted are from 4x4's?

I'm guessing that I can probably kiss that decent fuel mileage goodbye when the heavy modding starts though....

Nice data, thanks for sharing! Would you happen to know the similar breakdown between 4x2 and 4x4 (well "AWD") on the 2011 Lariat Limiteds? I'll make the color breakdown easy... they were all white.

If I got rid of the truck especially now that I have a focus as a DD I definitely would get the 6.2L

LOL! VERY TRUE... Easiest way is to email or call Ford and request the info. Usually takes about 2-3 business days for them to get back to ya. They couldn't give me the specific breakdown that I requested, but they WILL give you whatever info they are privy to. I was actually really shocked that they made such a high number of AWDs as opposed to 2wds in the HD trim...
