Question Exhaust system

Hi there!
I was wondering the other day what it might cost me for a new exhaust since the other vehicles seem to be timed to a 2 year limit on rusty mufflers. I went through receipts and it seems that it takes exactly 2 years for the exhaust to go. Someone told me the system on this truck is stainless steel. Anyone heard of this and shed some hope?
Cindy.

The stock system is 400 series stainless. Not the same quality as 300 stainless which would probably almost outlast the truck, but still a good quality exhaust. If you don't drive a lot of short trips in town so that water builds up in the exhaust to corode it the stock system would last years. If you are going to replace it all from the cats back with a good quality stainless system you could drop at least $400 or so. I paid slightly more but I got 300 series custom bent true dual system.

Could you exsplain the design and may be even show a few photos of the new exsaust system., Went yesterday to and muffler shop and they were a little confused on my design. Don't ask me how he got got confused, It just a simple design, but he said he would look into it and I should try to find a way others have done it;. So any help would be appreciated.

Don't have pics yet of my new system but this is what was done, and it was pretty tough. This may be different for the 2001 vs the 2000 since it's supercrew vs supercab.

1. cut the Y as close to the Y as possible. One of the O2 sensers was actually mounted in the Y. Also cut the tail pipes as close to the muffler as possible. Removed one 6' long chunk of exhaust.
2. made 2 extensions that routed the 2 pipes back to where the X pipe was to be. Put a mounting for the O2 sensor in the right side close to where it was before.
3. came out of the X into dual pipes that go back to dual 4" round Magnaflow mufflers sitting side by side roughly in the same location the stock unit was.
4. came out of the mufflers right into the stock dual tail pipes.
