Unhappy OK, I did it. Now I need help!!!!!

OK, I did it. I thought all of you were nuts when you were complaining about the rusty parts under the truck. But I recently put the babe up on jackstands, to paint my calipers (A nice little touch to see through those wheels). So I have her up there, painted the claipers, then I just can't put the can of "Phospho" and primer down. I proceed to paint the rear leaf springs a nice matte black as well. Well I coudn't stop there, with the rear axle lookiing like it did. So the axle is primed, and ready to be painted tomorrow. That is when I actually saw the steering box, so that now has a dose of phospho on it too, as well as the front spindles, exhaust bracket and rear yoke. If that wasn't bad enough, I decided to polish the INSIDE AND REAR of my wheels, while I was waiting for the primer to dry. Somebody please take the paintbrush from my hand before I hurt somebody!!!

LOL

Wink My turn next?

LOL, BlownHarleyFord, I'm hoping once you get done with your truck you'll come over and do mine! Uh, are you going to post some pics to really upset us non-painted HD truck owners or not?

Have to admit it is irritating that Ford has allowed all that rusty stuff under there.

Sure HarleyGuy,

I'll post some pics. But you'll have to forgive me with the similarity between our two trucks (hey, we have the same birthday though, so it's O.K.) I even have the same hitch cover as you. I DO have the lightning 3rd brake light however. I don't know whether it was worth the 2 bills, but it DOES look cool. I'll post some pics when I'm done.

Don't get me started on painting!!

Don't get me painting at all. Once I start everything gets a coat. On my Camaro i painted basically everything in the engine that could same with alot of stuff on the undercarriage. I'm considering starting to paint a few things in the engine Harley Orange. Haven't decided what would be nice yet though. Any one else done this?

Heard someone else paint the calipers orange, got the impression it was a little to much behind those wheels. The nice silver finish on the stock calipers is pretty subtle, nice. Can't think what I would add for color on the truck. They did have a fuel lid pic elsewhere that was black with a series of like button head hex screws in a circular pattern around it, looked subtle but trick. I kind of liked that. I'd like to try the 2000 lower HD grill in my 2001 since the 2000 is chrome and mine isn't. Like the looks of that. There isn't much you could do to these trucks that won't screw up the looks in my opinion.

More Painting

I have also seen a guy driving through Calgary that had the Harley Shield on his rims filled in with Orange paint. Looked really neat but can't decide if I want to do it to these beautiful rims. Considering it though. Looked really cool. Espicially when they were spinning. I tryed to wave him down but he just gave me a glare and turned off.

Hahaha! Actually, cleaning the inside of the wheels has become routine maintenance for me now. I do it about monthly. It really sets the truck off. People come up and talk about how gorgeous the truck is and can't figure out why it looks so great. The fact is that one can see those huge 9" wheels shining away even under the vehicle. Keeping those clean as well as keeping the wheelwells spotless and the tires "Meguired" makes it look better than new.

Hey, that's right about the same birthday, BHF. Quite a coincidence! I'll bet with the same hitch cover and the Hidden Hitch and the Lightning tails that you think you are looking at your truck when you see the pics of my HD. (And, that's not to mention the Superchip, FIPK, etc.) Great minds and all!

Talking Lol HarleyGuy

Thank God we're 900 miles apart. Otherwise people would think we're just swapping off with the truck (every so often).

LOL
