Talking Flowmasters on the HD!

Well I had the Flowmaster 40 series single in/dual out installled today! Sounds AWESOME! Definetly gave me the rumble I was wanting to put off with the Harley. I just left the 2 chrome tips off and ran it straight out of the flowmaster. Also did something tonight that I have not been able to accomplish until tonight, turn the tires over from a dead stop without powerbraking. Pulled up to a stop light with a friend right next to me I turned Overdrive OFF it turned green and I nailed it, sure enough a loud squeel and then she took off, left my buddy back although he didn't come off the line. I don't know if it was the Flowmasters that gave me the extra umph or if it's just my superchip finally kicking in!?!? Either way I'm lovin this truck even more everyday!!!

Are exhausts for '00 Harley and '01 Harley pretty much the same? I'm thinking of getting it done.

Can you tell me the model number for the Bullit, and any other parts you may have purchased? I'm concerned about ordering something on-line and then finding out later that it does not fit my particular truck. I have '01 F150 HDS. Thanks!

And Harleyboy, how much did they charge you to install the muffler? A local shop wants $160 for a FM 40 installed. Is that about normal?

Make sure you drill down to your specific model truck. For us its a 2000 F150 supercab sportside/flareside or whatever the hell they call it

I ordered the 6" round Bullit.

3" in....3" out. P#30024R

As for installing the pipe...160 bucks??? are they insane???

Thats more than twice as expensive as the muffler itself. Go find a "hole in the wall" muffler shop and they will prolly do it for 50 bucks.

Well I mean I bought the Flowmaster from the muffler shop and then with installation and all the goodies it was $168. Either way I love the sound, can't quit playing with it and will probably never stop!

I got the work done. Parts, labor, and tax came out to $166. I wanted to put in FM 40, but the shop said it wouldn't fit?!? I ended up putting a "big block" Flowmaster. I think it's FM 50. it's got a nice deep sound. not as aggressive as I originally wanted, but I suspect that I'll end up liking it in the end. Much easier to live with!

I definitely like the sound. It's pretty close to stock at idle, but it builds up nice and deep as I accelerate, without being obnoxious.

Any type of muffler will "Fit"

However some require more work than others in fabricating exhaust pipe to fit the muffler etc.

They obviously didnt want to do any additional work other than just chopping out the old..and welding in the new

Sounds like it. Ah well, I'm actually pretty happy about it though. I kind of fretted a little aftrward because I could hardly hear the exhaust note inside, although it pick up mighty healthy once the truck got going. But today, I had my girlfriend drop me off at work, and she was driving my truck, and the sound it made pulling away was awesome! Exactly what I had wanted from the beginning, enough throaty growl and deepness to tell the others, it ain't no soda can 4 banger in that truck!!! It was harder than usual to see her drive off because I wanted the truck back right there! (Uh, in case you're reading, also because I missed you honey! )

As a sidenote, it's always odd to see my girlfriend driving the truck. She's so tiny, and the truck's so big. Thank god for adjustable pedals though, or it may have taken longer for me to find out what the truck really sounds like with the Flowmaster!
