Question For those with K&N FIPK

I really don't know if this has been the case even before I had the kit installed, but whenever I turn my truck off, I hear this hissing sound. Is this from the kit, and is normal whether from the kit or not? Thanks in advance.

Gene,
Mine sounds like it is de-pressurizing, or hissing when I turn the truck off. I am pretty sure that it is normal. You get used to it.

I just installed my kit last Sunday, and I got a couple of concerns... Do I have to oil the filter before installing it? It came in a sealed plastic bag, and it seemed oiled already. I just installed it without oiling it myself. I hope I hadn't committed a blunder...

I'm also very concerned about the temperature inside the hood. It seems extremely high. Granted, it doesn't seem any higher than it was before, but all that hot air can't be good for HP. The kit itself including the filter is hot to the touch. At least with the airbox, the air came from the fender area and was presumably cooler than the air inside the hood.

Anyway, butt-o-meter approves of the mod. And the big whoosh sound sure makes me grin. But was it worth $200? I dunno...

chaean: The filter is pre-oiled. The oil gives it the pinkish color.

baddgene: Mine made the hissing noise before the filter also.

Every Cold Air Induction kit ive ever seen makes that noise

Ohyea..for those with the Air Force One kits, the filter is the same material as a K&N..it just uses blue oil rather than red. It can be cleaned with any K&N cleaner/recharger kit.
