Post Exhaust mod?

I read a few magazines that touted the "specially tuned" exhaust note of F150 Harley. Well, maybe it's just me but my '01 F150 HDS doesn't sound anything special, rather mellow and unobstrusive. I'd like to have a more throatier sound, so I'm thinking about trying on a Flowmaster 40. So I'm posting this question specifically to Harley F150 owners... Has anyone done something similar, and if so, what do you think? And if not Flowmaster, any other suggestions? I'm not looking for a complete cat-back solution. I'd like to take this step by step... Thanks!

Just the muffler itself, I've seen quotes around $60-$70. And then of course installation costs from the muffler shop. Common feedbacks include loss of low-end torque, but some gains at upper RPM, pleasing sound, etc. Not exactly a performance mod but grin factor seems high, considering.

Have you ever seen how a Flowmaster is built. Just a bunch of chambers for the gases to flow around in. Not a straight through type unit. Also, they rust. The last one I had was rusting pretty bad after a year. I was looking for a muffler that doesn't route the gases all over the place through chambers, just straight through. Magnaflow makes a nice unit, in stainless, no worries about rust. I'm going to convert mine to true duals and use a di/do Magnaflow muffler. They really sound nice too. Not raspy and tinny like some of the chambered mufflers can get, but a nice deep rumble.

Question

I wanna do some kind of exhaust mod to mine too! I know what a Flowmaster sounds like and was wanting to go that way with it but now with Irutt talking about all the rust I'm not sure. How much quieter are Magnaflow compared to Flowmaster and how much louder are Bullet. Are yall just swapping out the mufflers and leaving the tips or what?

I think bullet has a sound clip you can listen to on the website somewhere.
