Post Rust?????

Was under the truck working on the driving lights and BOY, was I HOT!!! The steering box, and both front axle castings are flash rusted. Also noted rust on all 4 brake rotors, and finding some on the leaf springs. What happened? Someone run out of paint??????
Gonna take my trusty bottle of OSPHO and spray them, then hit it with Rustoleum. Everything else looks nice, well painted and preserved. It's like they took parts stored outside submerged and threw them on the truck.
Anyone else notice this????

I was thinking the same thing myself Rube. I was just wondering what the best cure for this would be. Would Rustoleum be sufficient?

I have stuff called OSPHO...it's a steel converter...creates a chemical reaction with the iron oxide, turns it to iron phosphate, which acts like a primer. Most paint supply dealers have it, or a similiar product. We used it in the Navy, once you coat steel with it and then paint, almost impossible to get the paint off again. I regularly use it on my Toyo 4wd, leaf springs, etc. Then hit it with Rustoleum. Stuff can be hard on the skin, so use gloves, and goggles, and lots of ventilation. Here's a link for a dealer:

yeah, I too was surprised by the amount of rusting going on underneath my '00. After you spray this product, does it actually prevent further rusting or then do you have to paint? Not sure I'd want to paint the discs.
