Post Canada_Certificate of Origin

After all the whining I've done on this board and in faxes to Ford Canada, I received a positive email tonight that indicates that in the 'months to come' Canadian owners of both the 00 and 01 HD will be receiving Certificates of Origin. Cross your fingers. So far Ford Canada has come through on our concerns vis a vis USA owners--my tonneau was installed today at no cost and with no expectations since it wasn't on the original equipment list up here, about a month earlier than I expected, again with Canadian owners requesting equal recognition with their US counterparts. Patience is the key with any large organization. Ford at least is responding to our concerns for which I and hopefully, the other Canadian owners can thank them once again. This will cap my HD experience and hopefully others. I want to pinch myself but will hold off for the time being. I work for a large company and I know what big things to clients too often get bogged down and dismissed as little things internally--I've made those decisions myself It may take a while but this looks like it will happen.

Thanks to the guys who forwarded the US contact--I'll hold off on further pestering since it seems we'll see our request fulfilled once again through our own people at Ford.

Casey K that is the best news I have heard all week. I hope this go's through. That would also cap my exspierience with the HD's. I really think those certificates are a great idea. Is there any way I can help with the process. Any numbers you would like me to call or fax. I too would like to get involved and make sure know that the idea is in there head it doesn't leave. Thanks Casey for looking into this for all Canadian HD owners.

casey, That's good news! Are you the only person in Canada to get a free tonneau? Is it like ours(whenever we all get them). Was it special for you to get you off their backs, or will they give em to all who ask/demand?

Hey guys: from past experience I think Ford will come through on the certificates etc and probably in less time they originally specify--probably to give them some breathing room and I suspect they have to liase with the US marketing group to see how and why the certificate thing was initiated; there will be levels they will have to work through, permissions, etc., so at this point LoRider, have faith and see what Canada Post delivers in the next 2 or 3 months. If I hear more I'll post.

In general I've found Ford Customer Assistance very responsive; it started when I got my SVT Countour about 2.5 years ago. Ownership and dealer surveys--if I made a negative comment, I would get a response back quick--sometimes a followup phone call within 48 hours, and in the case of the HD tonneau issue, on a Saturday. I am left with the impression Ford cares about its customers and how they perceive their product, otherwise I would not have received the quick responses to date. It also helps if you truly enjoy your Ford and let them know--in my case I love both the SVT and the HD. Most companies only hear the negatives.

Team CRI F150: you should have received from Ford within 4 to 6 weeks of purchase a letter apologizing for the lack of a tonneau in Canada and offering the melton jacket as compensation. The letter I got from Ford was dated Nov 7/00--aprox 6 weeks after purchase, unannounced and with no whining The jacket arrived in less than a week. I'd call customer assistance and inquire 800-565-3673 or fax 905-670-1798 which is the F150 faxline. This may have been a short term offer since the first tonneau letter to Canadian owners saying it was being worked on was dated Dec 15/00, following a Nov 22 fax to Ford thanking them for the jacket but also mentioning the 'free' tonneau offer to US owners leaving Canadian owners where ? If you got the tonneau offer then maybe the jacket offer was superceded ?? Cust Assist don't have the answers at their fingertips but they will get back to you, often with not encouraging news, but somehow your comments will get dealt with, often positively within their system. It does take time....

badgene: most Canadian owners should have received the same tonneau offer as I did and as you US guys did --it just took longer but also pointing out we northern owners weren't being treated like our southern brothers. Within 3 weeks (see above) the tonneau letter arrived saying they were working on it and by early March the details arrived--tonneau, $900 cash if you already bought one, or same amount in Ford parts. We were to get delivery by end of June, mine arrived end of May, installed yesterday. Anyone who bought one of these trucks should have gotten the same deal but I haven't heard from any other Cnd owners saying they got theirs yet. I can't be the only one Looks great according to my brother and mother--I haven't seen it yet. Do you have a lock issue with your cover?

Sorry for all the verbiage but hope it helps some of you out there. This board is great at keeping us informed of what other owners are experiencing--without the info I couldn't have provided the backup to Ford Canada that kept the ball rolling on a number of fronts.

I recieved a real quick response about my jacket and tonnue. Maybe 2 to 3 weeks after I purchased. I only had my truck for about 1 month know and they seem to be pretty quick on that kind of stuff. Still waiting on my $900 chack for buying a aftermarket cover.
