how many of you guys really own Harleys?
A better question would be, "How many people 'ride' vs. owning a garage trophy?"
I know of too many people that buy a Harley just to have one, then it sits in the garage, under a cover, and only comes out on sunny days, or have never owned a motorcycle, get a few bucks, and buy a hog. Much different than the litle 250cc they teach you on.
It's a great sport, but not real forgiving of mistakes.
On the general discussion page a few weeks back someone posted a question about how many vehicles you;ve owned. I looked at my list and have many different brands on there. AS long as it has 2 wheels and you get to eat bugs, it's OK. Besides, the rain hitting you at speed will wash 'em off!!!
Maybe time to try that Cagiva......

PhillyRube, I know what you mean by the Yuppie garage queen type. Unfortunately that is also the type I've seen buying the HD trucks as well. Hate to be lumped in with them. As for the bikes, I keep all my stuff really clean. I ride them a lot but I also clean them a lot. I've raced, rebuilt, restored, customized, you name it. I just have a hard time gettin miles on all of them. My Harley is the primary ride but I like to hit the classics at least once a month or so. Just yesterday the 'british' club goes on a first sunday of the month ride so the old Triumph saw a hundred miles or so. Great day for a ride

Been looking at all FLHRCI that are for sale.
Just have not found the right one. (I want original, No mods or add-ons. I want it just like it came from the factory) its just me thats the way I am. My HD F-150 only has the front windows tinted and thats it. Just the way i like it.

I first saw the truck and fell in love withit immediately. Actually, when I walked up to it and saw the HD symbols I initially thought how cheesey. Someone put emblems on a beautiful Ford truck.
As I researched on the internet I realized how rare they may be or may become.
Before purchasing the truck and asking around everyone I talked would love to own one and no one said to me "do you own a harley?"
After buying the truck the response was positive and lots of thumbs up. Generally, I'm not a bike guy but love to have a Fatboy one day. I loved Fatboys since I seen it in Terminator II. But I do see how people react to guys who buy Harleys for their first bike and I see more jealousy than acceptance.
If the emblems were not on the truck I still think I would of bought it. Don't get me wrong though, laides recognize the HD emblems before the Ford emblems and that's a good thing. So no regrets.
Lastly, when someone ask me if I have a Harley I ask them "Do You?" If they say yes I respond why don't you own a Ford. Jokingly of course. If they say "No" I ask if I should scrap the truck and they are the first to say "I'll take it". I respond "but you don't own a Harley"
Also, I have a Ferrari jacket does that mean I have to have the car?
Love this truck and Harley may come soon.
Priorities though.
Keep on trucking and biking guys.

retics4me,
I thought about waiting untill the supercharged version comes out, but I drive about 60 miles a day to/from work. Just didn't seem to practical for me (as if this truck is practical). Also needed some passenger room (notice the wifes car is a Miata, no room at all). Got to love those Lightnings though. I prowl around the Lightning forum and read about them. I'd be in plenty of trouble if I had power like that under my right foot. The bikes are bad enough.

retics4me,
I'm another Harley rider, 1973 XLCH Sportster, that drives a 4X4.
The Harley truck did not exist when I bought my truck and as you can see by the age of my bike, I don't change/trade things very often.
