Time to go RACING!!
Hey...
After 2 tries, and 2 rainouts.. looks like tonight is the night the truck gets to prove it's self on the 1/4 mile.
Actually, it wasn't my intention to race the truck (much) but since my Camaro engine is still in pieces.. and the Club Challenge series has started.. well - the truck is it. It will give me a good "baseline" before I start the mods on it :-D
I'll let you know how it does - bone stock.. I heard that there was one out at another local track a couple weeks ago.. supposedly stock.. running 15.7s. That track is a bit faster than the one I'm running on tonight but here's hoping to 15s anyway.
The truly interresting part of all this is the 91 Camaro I will be racing (once it's back together with all it's new "go fast" mods) is actually not much faster; running mid 15s in it's stock configuration. So the truck is pretty impressive considering it outweighs the camaro by a good bit and still can run with it (and can beat most of those annoying ricers around too, however, for some reason they won't race me??)

Well,
I was a bit dissappointed but here are the times..
16.17 first run of the day - cool weather.. rained out so didn't get any more runs.
16.24 First run of the day (1 week later) 71 degrees.
16.27 second run - 71 degrees
16:30 3rd run - 68 deg.. traction getting bad
16.32 4th run - 68 deg.. traction non existant
16.30 5th run (got beat)63 deg - no traction... spinning tires big time ;D
The track I was running at is known for it's "traction" issues.. they don't use the "sticky stuff" unless the NHRA guys are there.. about 2 hours into racing the traction is non existent... I had the same problems with my TransAm - running drag radials and waterbox burnouts..
The truck doesn't run very well when it's warm out - I was trying to spin the tires in the staging area but couldn't even get a good response from it till it got to about 68 deg and lower..I'd hit the gas but it would bog.. finally at 63 degrees I was able to spin the tires in staging, and had plenty of OOMPH off the line .. but no traction.
I was reviewing the time slips and it definately picked up speed when it was cooler out I just had no traction by that point.
I'm planning on running it out at the other local track for "all ford" day - should see some better times - 15.9s easily.. that track is usually up to 2/10s faster because they use the sticky stuff!
