I'm getting my F150 HD SuperCrew on Wed, and I wanted to get the receiver and Tonneau cover done for Wed when I pick it up. The dealer had quoted me $1600 for both installed. What can I talk him down to?

You'd better do some more price checking...That seems way high. Hard tonneaus are $600-900 and a hitch should be 200-250.

 

I got the hitch for $179 installed, it was a hidden hitch, not from the dealer though. Nice unit as it has a place for the 7pin plug built in. No separate ugly bracket hanging off to the side. My ARE LSII with sport wing, carpet, and latch cover was a lot less as well. Your dealer is definately getting his cut.

Do it yourself: Buy the hidden hitch from JC Whitney. About $100 and install it yourself. About a half hour job - excluding dropping the spare and putting it back up. Simple installation and straight forward.

 

I agree. Install it yourself! And, you don't even need to drop the spare. I sure didn't have to do so. The whole install took all of 18 minutes.
