HD Supercrew 2001
I went and test drove one of these bad boys today, and I cannot wait until I can afford one. While I was at the dealership I asked the salesman how many HD Supercrews were made, just to test his knowledge. You know what he told me? He told me there were five made and they had 2 of them, one on the lot and one in back. I wish salesman could be more honest and just say I don't know I will have to check. Has anyone else had similar experience?
I have had my HDscrew for about a month now, and Im still getting misinformation from the dealer and the salesperson. I was told they made 4000 of them. After I bought it I found out they made 8000 of the supercabs. So they have probably make many more than that. I was also told it had 300hp and it came with wheel locks. Although I was pretty sure it didnt have 300hp, I was shocked that it didnt come with wheel locks! If it wasnt such an awesome truck I would be mad!
sark7, maybe the dealer meant they they only have 5. As far as I know, about 8000 F150 Harleys were made, and each dealer gets no more than 5. Some of the larger dealership probably ordered all 5 at once and had them on the lot while some of the smaller ones probably ordered a couple, to see how well they sell, before asking for the rest of the allotment. Makes sense because money is due at ordering (or delivery, but definitely before it is sold to customer) and having the truck sit idle on the lot would eat away at the holdback "profit."
My dealer (Carey Paul Ford, Decatur Georgia) apparently purchased from another dealer an additional F150 Harley, and they were extremely eager to move'em. I think they have 2 left, one less than they had this past Sat.

Sark, our dealer had ordered one before we went in, so the first one he got didn't have the sunroof. He has 2 2000s and the original 2001 on his lot....we saw the truck at Sturgis and my bride fell in love with it. As son as we could we ordered it up. My first new vehicle (not bikes) in 20 years, and so far, no disappointments. We were supposed to get wheel locks but they are backordered all over the world. Otherwise, we love it...with my recent encounter (see 'Down but Not Out') it's the only Harley I'll be driving for awhile.....Rube
