Question Wheel Locks

I tried to get some lock nuts for my HD truck yesterday at the dealer and the parts person wanted to know if they I needed 12 or 14 mil. I have no idea on where to find this out. A while back someone posted the Part # of them here but the post is no longer available. Does anyone have this information?

Thanks

Martin

Most dealers are putting these on as soon as the truck hits the lot as the wheels are getting stollen so fast. The dealer I just picked my truck up at had two hit and the jerks caused body damage dropping the trucks down on cement blocks. Mine had locks on it right away. I requested it and they indicated they learned their lesson and would have done it anyhow.

NOBODY sells these one's except for the dealer. Evem talked to McGard's manufacturing plant (25 miles from my house). They said they can't even sell that size to me, they have a contract with Ford (which allows them to bump up the price 200%).

If you're interested Ford went to all 14mm hubs on F150s in 00 July for who knows why. It seems to be an odd enought size that dealer can only order thru McGuard, as opposed to previous 12mm which is readily available. Guess we're special

Checked the Mcgard book at Pep Boys here, and the 98-99 SuperDuty has 14 x 2 wheel studs. The part number is 24205...guess what, it's special order anyway......Rube

No, Hienzelmans, but they said all the dealerships are getting hit. I'm taking mine down today to get the system 4 alarm put in. Can't hurt.

The lug nut torque specs for the HD 20" wheels is 100ft/lbs. You might want to loosen up the rest of your lugs one at a time and re-torque them. I notice that they really crank them on at the factory (> 100ft/lbs.) This in some cases can cause rotor warping and other drive-wheel damage (as well as a pain in the *** if you ever need to get them off when on the side of the road). Maybe this is overdoing it a bit much, but I assume if you bought one of these trucks, you're probably a little compulsive as is!
