LowRider, got the clear corners from autodynamic.com Less than $40 for the pair shipped! Cheapest I've seen. Also, got them in just 3 days. Get the tail lights dude, you won't regret it. Order now, it's gonna take about 3 weeks, maybe more. Try all the dealers in your area as some mark up diferently. I paid $40 each for mine at one dealer. Another wanted $44, and still another wanted $55. So check around.

Questions?? Do they fit right? Are they two socket or three socket? Do you have to splice in a new socket like all of the after market versions avialable? In other words are they just a swap out or do they have to be butchered to put in?

Have you cleaned your AF1 FIPK yet?

Im afraid to hose it down since the material looks different from the K&N filter im used to playing with on my car/bike. I just blasted it with an air hose...but there is still a ton of dirt in the filter.

Anyone know if its safe to clean with water?

thanks HarleyGuy =) the headlights are sweet, but the tails are obviously the most noticeable when changed...

JaxHarley - i haven't had the truck (or obviously the FIPK) too long so I haven't looked into cleaning the filter yet... let me know what you find out! wes@myf.org

I will warn anyone getting one of these, before you install it, take the rubber connecting parts and wash them with some dish soap... I noticed mine were a little greasy only after the filter SLID OFF a couple times! once i washed it and retightened, no more slipping.

regards,
Wes

OK, baddgene and pesos, you did it! I just HAD to get them as I think the chrome looking clear taillights will really set off the wheels, nerf bars, etc. Will keep the original lights, of course, as someday this truck very well might be valuable as an original.

Anyhow, ended up paying $34.25 each plus $7 shipping, no tax, at FordPartsOnline. 1-800-549-2005. (Their website isn't working right now, and you will need to call to order.) If you are willing to wait 30-60 days, you can even buy them a bit cheaper: $30.50 each.

The gentleman who took my order mentioned that there might be one screw from the old taillight that is too long and to be careful. He suggested maybe replacing that one screw in each tail with a shorter one. Did anyone else notice that???

Thanks for reminding me, Harleyguy. All the screws are too long. But there's a real simple fix. The fit and installation is exact. No splicing or anything else. There was a question about two or three bulbs, it doesn't apply to ours, identical! But the screws. I started screwing them in and felt some resistance. So, I'm not gonna let a little *** screw get the best of me, so I give it a little more. And what do I see? The screw starting to penetrate through the inside of the lense. Talk about wanting to cry! To the untrained eye it's not noticeable, but I know what I did. Anyway, to fix it, all you need to do is add about two or three 1/4 inch washers. I got mine from Lowes, they have a metal washer with a rubber flange connected, it takes two of those per screw. Bingo! Perfect! Of course you could just grind the screw down, but you may need them again, so get the washers! 40 cents for a pack of 5. And don't save money waiting up to 60 days, these lights look too damn good!

Question

baddgene, would it be better to just get new screws? How much shorter should the screws be? Are they unusual type screws? If washers are added, how come you cannot see them. Are they on the outside of the taillight as I imagine they must be?

Where I live, there isn't a big choice of getting parts. I have to go to a small hardware store and hope to find what I need. If I need something special, I have to drive several hundred miles. The washers with the rubber on them are special and won't be available around here.

Sorry for all the questions, but it would be nice to be prepared when the new lights come in!

Oh god..not those Ricer Clear tail lights?

*sigh*

To each his own I suppose. Maybe it will grow on me to see them on a HD. I just think they are hideous.

hi guys,

i don't have a harley but my black screw is close enough color-wise... I got the 2001 lightning tails, heads, corners and 3rd lamp and they are sweet. they would go great with the HD trucks, plus they're LEGAL, unlike the altezzas and other aftermarket lights... pics at www.weslazara.com/screw

HarleyGuy, I would stay with the same screws and use the washers. First reason like I said, you never know, you may need them again. Originally, I tried to buy new screws altogether, but the thread on these screws are kinda far apart so, I couldn't find an exact match. Didn't wanna risk doing damage to the threads in the light. As for the washers, if you open your tailgate, you will see the two screws in question. If you look where the head of the screw seats against the inside of the truck, it should be clear why the washers will be out of sight. If you have a Lowes near you, these are the washer I used: Bonding Washers, 1/4" Galv. There are 5 in a bag. I put two on each screw. As one side of the washer is metal and the other rubber, I used them together as one would be used, basically one on top of the other. (not metal to metal or rubber to rubber) Hope you get the idea. That being said, unless you can find the exact thread screw but shorter, the washers are TOO easy!

Can't you just buy the screws from Ford, the same ones used on the Lighnting? Would that make life easier then using washers or cutting the stock screws that came on our trucks?
