Cool Harley Plaque Finally Installed -- Where did everyone put it?

Finally installed the HD Commemorative Plaque. Tried all sorts of areas. Many spots couldn't be used because the plaque wouldn't lay flat enough and adhere. Thought about the overhead console, the center glove box, etc. etc. Finally found a flat spot on the edge of the airbag door cover and that's where it ended up. Looks fantastic!

Take a look:

Just got my plaque, certificate, and keychain yesterday. (I picked the truck up from the dealer 12-23-00.) Thinking of where to put the plaque. Now I have a small question, is the certificate just a small 1.5" X 3" oval??? Kinda dinky if you ask me. And the Keychain is gorgeous, but it weighs 50lbs. Afraid it will rip a hole in my pocket if I actually try to use it. Looks nice in the case though, I'll just keep her there. Mine was born August 31st, #5561. (Anybody know what day of the week that was???)

HarleyGuy,
You put it exactly where I want to put it. I can't, though, convince my wife that it will not hit her when the air bag deploys.
Anyone know which way the plastic cover plate deploys and if it is hinged?

Wink

I considered that, too, MotorWorf. But, the airbag door surely doesn't blast out and hit you in the face. It either is hinged up or down -- otherwise you'd be eating a door in an accident which would certainly be a case for lawsuits. Perhaps, we can get an expert to answer exactly what happens when there is sufficient impact to set of the airbags.

MotorWorf,

LOL!!! Never even thought of that. Hey, if it does deploy, you would have a permanent plaque imprinted on her forehead!!! LOL

Cool

Got an answer on another thread ( https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/001102.html ) how the airbag door cover works: Turns out that the cover is hinged at the top and if the bag blows, it flips up but stays attached to the dash. The emblem won't end up hitting anyone in the forehead after all!

That is unless the plaque goes flying when the cover blows open. Then you'll have a 3 ounce piece of airborne metal traveling at 3000 fps. Like we used to say back in 'NAM... HIT THE DECK!!!

Had the plaque and keychain in a display case until I read your posting. Took it out and put it in the same place as you mentioned. Looks good!!!.

Thumbs up

Think that's a great spot for it, HD2NV89. Sure looks great. Looks as if it came that way from the factory.

I'd put mine in the very same place if and when Ford Canada sends us a plaque and quits treating us like second class buyers and not acknowledging us as equal owners like you US guys! So far ... no plaque, no certificate north of the border. Sheesh, can't marketing and production get together once in a while...in the same boardroom, in the same country?
