I don't know what you're doing wrong, I'm getting 15-17 and it's not broke-in yet...

Cool

Your about right on the gas milage. Mine has 2600 miles on it and I have never got better than 14 MPG on the highway. FORD has checked it out several times and finds nothing wrong. I know several owners with the 5.4 that get about the same if not worse. The guys with the 4.6 get much better from my experience. FORD did some fudging on the MPG estimate on the 5.4 engine. However, I still wouldn't change for a BOW TIE.

I don`t own a HD model but mine is equipped essentially the same drive train wise. I average 16-18 mpg unloaded and a little worse with bed full. It hasn`t gone down to 10mpg yet. I would get it checked as this seems awfully low for a new truck.
My mileage has stayed pretty consistent from when I got it with 21miles to the 9,666 on it now.

You must be driving with the overdrive OFF. This drops the mileage down an awful lot. It does make for better performance in town. I have a 2000 HD 150, and get 15-17 miles per gallon average. On the road at 70 I get almost 18 with good gas. Anyway I'm not going back to a mini truck till gas goes up over five bucks a gallon.

Cool

gas mileage and trucks never gets better. my hd truck gets 16 and when i tow my 7x12 trailer with 1 or 2 bikes it gets 11 mph. running from ontario to florida is expensive but i sure enjoy this truck. brfore this i had an expedition 5.4.(with towing package) it got 15 & 10 with the trailer. before that i had a 150 with the 4.6. same mileage and no power for pulling. even said no more fords till the mileage gets better but bought new ones anyway. putting on my superchip and airraid system now. gues it will get worse again. oh well guess i'll have to work harder.

First time I checked it was about 14.75 mpg. Now that I have 3500 miles on the truck it comes to 15.68. I just installed a K&N FIPK Gen II, and filled it with Amoco gas today so I'm hoping to see it improve....( if I can keep my foot out of it!! )
