I just ordered the A.R.E. cover today. I got one with Silver Gray liner fabric (which matches my future plan of installing a Bedrug), interior light, and wing. I don't mind the hump, and I like the wing. Snugtop would be my next choice, they cover the plastic. Smooth and low profile. Man, your gonna love your truck...

Talking Well, I took the plunge today.

Put my 01 HD on order this morning, everything but the heated seats (don't need those in florida). I'm still struggling with the hard cover though. The ARE is nice but I don't like the hump in the center. It is a requirement though to cover the plastic up which the ARE does. Who else covers the plastic trim up and does not have a hump. I've looked through the products category and haven't found what I want yet. Any ideas??

I too ordered the ARE LSII. Figure the hump will be barely noticeable in black and it kind of grows on you anyway. ARE seems to have the quality compared to the others I have seen in person. I got the headliner in it to but went for the darker grey/blackish color. Bed rugs are really nice but I am going to be putting some real dirty stuff in there (wheels with lots of brake dust, etc, etc) so don't need anything else to worry about messing up. That's why I like the duraliner, cheap and you just hose it out.
It still doesn't make sense that Ford would give us the 2001 owners the extra lock cylinder like they did the 2000 owners but then not intend to supply the bed cover like they are supposed to do for the 2000 trucks. Even if they do I couldn't imagine wating all that time for it. The 2000 owners still don't have there bed covers, in fact Leer says they haven't been released by Ford to even start making one of them yet. They say it won't start production until this month. So let's see, they sold how many 2000 models, several thousand, I have seen some people say there were as many as 8000 sold, sounds high to me but even if it was half that much it is going to take Leer a long time to make and deliver all those tops. Heck those guys will probably still be waiting for those things way into the summer. I mean how many molds for this top do you think Leer has. And how many days to make each top using one of those molds.
So even if Ford does supply one for the 2001 models we wouldn't see a top until when, next year?
So bottom line take the plunge and choose one of the ones existing now. There really are no bad choices, just different flavors so to speak. My favorite is still the Pro Sport by Innovaiton. There is another thread on this top here and on the Supercrew list and on the group buy list. They just don't make it for the Screw yet. Take care,

******* makes an excellent hard cover. Doesn't make the back of the truck look like a delivery van (no offense to to the LSII crowd just my opinion And IMHO they have a better hinge system than the Snuglid. the X-2000 has no trim around the oustside and carpeted on the inside. I have one ordered for my L.
