Cool Towing with the Harley Truck

OK, I'm double posting again from the Towing Forum, but figured it wouldn't hurt to have a towing section in the Harley area. The truck is made to tow a pretty good load, after all.

(I have to say the Hidden Hitch is really the way to go, imo, for a great towing hitch that makes the truck look even better. If you plan to do any towing, this is a great way to go.)

I received the Hidden Hitch today and even though we are in a Winter Storm and Wind area today (55 degrees BELOW zero wind-chill and 6 inches of snow and 35 mph winds causing a blizzard!!!) I was out in the garage and installing the new hitch. My wife and daughter were home since school was cancelled and I thought I might need her assistance or extra set of hands. Ended up using the motorcycle jack to hoist the hitch into position after installing the side brackets and it worked perfectly. The entire install didn't take 35 minutes for the hitch itself.

I did run into some problems moving the wiring harness and door over to the cutout on the new hitch. None of the holes lined up and I had to re-drill the thing. Spent another 45 minutes getting the wiring done, but now all is well with that.

Lastly, (this was one of the best parts!) I installed the new laser cut Harley Logo Billet Aluminum cover my wonderful wife picked up for me this weekend and that only took about 15 seconds!

The Hidden Hitch sure looks great on my Harley Truck, but won't get much opportunity to use it until next spring when the snow is gone.

Here's a couple of quick pictures, one close up so the hitch and cover can be seen and one backed off a bit so you can see how nice the Hidden Hitch fits in with the truck:

Cool

Hey Harleyguy,
Thank Hidden hitch looks really good. I really like the hitch cover. Your wife picked out a nice one for you. After seeing your hitch I just might have to get one for mine, if I ever tow with it.

Thanks, Harleyrules,

What was really kind of neat about the hitch purchase by my wife was that she was in Kansas City (about 375 miles from our home here in NW Iowa) over the weekend for a Hallmark Ornament meeting. (She's big into that!) Anyhow, she went to Worth Harley in KC and saw that hitch on a HD Truck that turned out to belong to a Kansas City Chief linebacker. There were two HUGE guys (biggest men she had ever seen -- two linebackers!) riding in this truck and it had the Hidden Hitch and the hitch cover on their truck. She asked them about it and told them that her husband had the same truck and the same hitch.

Uh, the guys thought my wife was coming on to them! They thought she was making it all up like a groupy. Ha!!! (I think... )

Cool

Shoveled off the drive and cleared the ice away so I could get the garage door open. Now with some sunshine, the pictures in the first message have been updated and they came out a lot better than what were in there from last night. Take another look at msg #1.

MotorWorf, the Hidden Hitch came from JC Whitney and was on special for $99.95. Shipping was also 1/2 price and was only $7 on this heavy item. (If you live in a metro area, I'm sure you can find one locally.) I first saw the hitch cover in Minneapolis at a Harley-Davidson dealer, but didn't get it then. Last weekend my wife was in Kansas City for a conference and found it again for me. I believe a lot of the Harley shops carry it or can probably order it for you.

Gee that's a sexy looking truck!

One question: has the lowering improved the handling? How is it over bumpy roads?

I'm not sure I'd go as hog wild on the other details but it sure look good. Even with reg F150 alum rims on for winter, every time I look at mine, it sure looks special.

Talking

I got two pics to load of agrv8vn's truck and that was it. What I saw looked good, though.
=================
(OK, got the rest to load this morning and I'm modifying the first post. Think the server must have been overloaded last night with the election/Supreme Court coverage.) Looks really nice, guy!
