Way2Big,
what a coincidence, my busa is also an '01 (blue/silver).

The supercharged HDs essentially got a "detuned" L engine. And as you pointed out, the s/c engines have beefed up internals (rods, pistons), in addition to a stronger tranny (4R100 vs usual 4R70W in n/a's. There are more differences but I am no expert in that field. Contact Mike of madenterprises and he can give you an accurate picture of what parts (and costs) are involved in a n/a conversion:

Now an excuse to post a pix of my bike

Good discussion here also:

Sweet, i have the Black/Siilver. I'll try to post a pic later.

What do you mean by a "detuned" engine? What would it take to get it up to the Lightning "spec"?

I know about the smaller pulley and the Electric fan mods. I had a '98 5.4l EB Expy w/ a Magnacharger kit and 9# pulley, Headers, Gibson cat back, Superchip. It was sweet. Damn divorce!

I'm wanting to get a HD sometime, maybe next year to haul the Busa around in. Just on a fact finding mission.

Hey what happened to Magnacharger anyway? Anyone know?

The difference between the HD and the L engine is that the L has a 2.93" upper pulley as opposed to the 3.1" of the HD.
This gives approx 2lb more boost.
The L also has a slightly more aggresive PCM strategy.

That's it.
