06 Harley Drop

Hey guys, the other night I was on the main strip in town and saw a 2006 harley davidson edt. droped about 3 or 4 inches. It looked sick, it really highlighted the 22 inch stock wheels and the whole truck. I was wondering if anyone has any recomendations for a drop kit for my 06 harley?, the truck right now is way too high, especially in the back and it looks like a totally different truck with the drop. The 00-03 harley's look like they came a lot lower stock then the stock 06 harley.

I have a new '06 H/D and want to do same thing -

I had dealer pull out the spacers in rear when I bought it, and they had to re-align the front end and the lights. I still want it lower, and have just now read in the Inside the Oval Magazine Oct 2006. Vol. 8 No. 10, page 36, that Ford is coming out with an '07 FX2 Sport that is lowered 2" in front and 5" in back. I would be interested in knowing how Ford did this and perhaps I can have my dealer do the same. Anyone out there know more about this new truck and how Ford did it? Seems to me that it would take into consideration any issues with parts, driveability, etc., and you would have a nice looking, riding truck when it was all done.. Any help please ?? BTW this new truck puts out425 at the rear wheel with over 500 lbs. ft. of torque through a 4:10 gear set.. Ay Caramba!!! DanF

06 harley's

Hey its great to hear from another 06 Harley I don't see them too often on the road. FedEX just droped off my DJM lowering kit (3" front, 5.5" back) Im pumped now i just need shocks. Anyway is this the FX2 you are talking about. http://www.autoblog.com/media/2006/0...FX2Sport_2.jpg
Yea i would really like to know how they lowered that truck too, my guess would be that they put the rear lead pack under the rear axle opposed to ontop of is just like my DJM kit does, as for the front they must have done different shocks. Id really like to see some shots of your truck if u get a chance.

Is it possible that there is such thing as a Fx2 sport that comes lowered or is it just a concept car that they havent made yet?

BABA4488 - thanks for your reply. Your H/D looks

GREAT!!! Mine is just stock but I sure like it. Came from an '04 Lightning and really liked that too, but needed more space for family and work stuff, etc., so with great regret, traded it in for the H/D. It lasted no longer than 24 hours before they sold it. It had 5k miles.

I called my dealer here about this lowered FX2 Sport and they know nothing. Tks for the picture, it looks similar, and here is the link to the one from the magazine -- http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10...ready-for-sema/ I couldnt get their pics to downsize, but you may know how.. Please advise how your lowering kit goes, I am very interested in doing mine but want to do it right the first time and still have as much driveability, comfort, and reliability as what comes from the factory engineering, if possible. What is the website name for the place you got your lowering kit from ? Thanks for your help, your truck is awesome!! I will post a pic of my stock black one soon as it quits raining here. I measured the lift I still have after pulling those blocks out of the rear leafs and its 7" in back and 5" in front high. DanF

Hey i got the lowering kit from Stylinconcepts.com and http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.a.../categoryid/30 It just arrived at my house last night and im really worried that it gunna be too low and look too west coast. Is your truck totally level now that you took the rear blocks out? What other mods have you done besides removing the rear spacers/blocks?

at SEMA a 2007 FX2 was shown off with a lowered suspension and supercharged along with various upgrades. a 'RUMOR' has came about that ford may be putting this truck into production. Or take various parts from this truck and putting them as a 'special edition' truck.

here is a workable link

Achap, BABA, thanks for your replies

My H/D with those blocks out, sits at around 7" from fenderwell edge to top of tire in the back, and around 5" from fenderwell edge to top of tire in the front. Before removing these blocks from under the leafs, it was probably couple of inches higher in the back. The dealer said they had to realign the front end and the headlights after removing these blocks cause it came down in back, but it still couple of inches higher than the front today. I want it lower all around like the guy at Trilogy Motorsports did to his '06, but believe he used a GroundForce 5"/2" kit. His ended up looking perfect. If you dont like the West Coast style, then this might not be a good look for you. I dont want mine slammed, I want mine to be perhaps 2-3" lower in back and the same in front, not lower than the top of the tires, but just over the tops a bit. I dont believe they will rub since the backspacing seems to have everything tucked inside the wheelwells.. Only mods I have are 4 MB Quart 6.5 Coaxials with separate tweeters and crossover networks, Diamond D6 4-channel amp, Pioneer 10" sub, all components fitting under the driver side back seat. The separate seat for the jack parts, still functions fine and will lift up, but because of my sub in the box, the other seat wont lift up anymore.. Head unit is Kenwood with single Cd, XM satellite, and MP# player with connector in the console.
Oh and a ton of Dynamat Extreme on all floors, both sides of all 4 doors, up the rear wall and front firewall.. DanF

Achap,

Thanks for the link - that is exactly what I have in the Inside the Oval Magazine. I hope this makes it out to the buying public. My '04 Lightning was almost that same color.. This newer version looks smoother and carries itself nicer. The grillwork and bumper I like better. Anything to smooth out the front end and lower the c/d has to be good ! And if it has any of the new Harley Davidson interior parts, it will be, well, a really nice ride AND a brute force when you push that go-pedal down! My Lightning would spin those Goodyear F-1 DS3's on 18" x 9" wide wheels forever if you wanted to do that..
Think more people will identify better with this bodystyle than the last Lightning Flareside style..Both styles are awesome in their own way.. I just happen to like my current Styleside H/D better now.. DanF

yeah, im a fan of the lightnings, was waiting for the "concept version" that was made of the new lightning to come out...but was cancelled. But i could use the more room so i opted for the FX2. The interior parts arent quite exactly the same....but similar.

As for lowering...i wanted the, what was called "west coast look" when i had my 04 STX reg cab, but I do not with this one. I will eventualy lower the back 2" to level the truck out. Another guy has a black 07 FX2 on here and his is leveled and he is awaiting a 2" lowering kit all the way around. I will wait to see that to see if I want to go lower. But as far as exterior mods, thats about it....oh and also the 06-07 HD 22's...if i could only find them brand new (or with no scuffs)

Achap, that is a very nice truck !!

I think the stitching contrast is really good and the seats look just like my '06 H/D's but Im sure they have to be improved!!
I am not going to be hauling much of anything in my truck probably ever, so the lowering will hopefully work out for me too.
Yes, I also love the new 22" H/D wheels and the Pirelli Scorpion tires really ride and handle well. I would want to buy those again.
I saw an '07 H/D at my Ford dealer, they used the same wheels, but painted the inside of the spokes a dark gray color this time around, otherwise, they are all just metal finished. I am wondering if these wheels have a clear coat on them or not? Anybody know for sure ?? If so, I will be careful to not use anything abrasive to take it off. As much as I like polishing, I am not sure I would want to be out there regularly removing aluminum oxidation off of polished wheels. Its much easier to just Zaino the clearcoat (if thats what they have) and go on with the rest of the truck, if you ask me..
That red color looks great too! I wonder what 3 coats of Z5 pro and 3 coats of Z2 pro would do to it..... DanF

Nice big red truck

Wow I really like the looks of the FX2, the grill, black headlights and that lower bumper with the lip on it really give the truck a sharp look, all its missing is a blower and a lowering kit.
