New Harley edition owner soon...

Hi! just registered and looks like a great forum. I go tommorrow to finalize buying a 2000 F-150 harley edition. It is a truck I've always dreamed about and it is at a good price. I'll be posting alot here the next few weeks. here are a few.
1. I read about ID #s. how limited were these trucks?
2. I plan on Towing a bassboat with this truck, any info on hitches, springs, etc will be great.
3. The fiberglass cover is missing though the hardware is still there. any ideas on replacements costs? I'm gonna try and get a new one in the deal tommorrow.
4. Truck has a redish orange pin stripe, I'm thinking of adding a slighter thicker Yellow pinstrip, what do you think?

I'll be bugging you alot the next few weeks. thanks!!

Hi and welcome to F150online.
Here's the breakdown on numbers of HD editions produced over the years

00-8197
01- heard everything from 6-10K
02-12,505
03-10,047

02- more dsg's than black
03- about even split 2tone vs black

The suspension is pretty much the same on the HD as the regular F150. For towing you will be fine but don't go over the rating for the 20" tyres.
You can find the maximum towing capacity in the owners handbook.
If you don't have one, you can download it from Ford here https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

For a tonneau, check out the websites for *******, Snugtop or some where online like Stylinconcepts.
I'll let you do your own search for that.
Prices vary so it depends on what quality you want.

As for the yellow stripe, whatever floats your boat. It's your truck so if it makes you happy, do it.
I would suggest getting some yellow pinstripe tape and try that first before you lay any paint down just in case it doesn't work out.

Congrads on the new Harley Truck. I've got a 2000 also - I love it. As far as pulling a boat, you should be in the clear - but be careful, when hooking up something to the hitch, the back end drops a lot quicker than you think it will(I found this out the hard way). The yellow pin stripe . . . please don't. If you do a little browsing on Ebay you can find a pin stripe off of an 02 Harley Truck - they break out into the outline of a flame 1/4 of the way into the bed. I also found a set of the newer Harley headlights and turn signals for 250. Also, since the 2000's aren't supercharged, I bought a Superchip, Dynatech Long Tube Headers w/ their own Harley Exhaust Kit, AEM Brute Force Intake, and a throttle body from BBK and I blow by the new Harleys (for those who have a stock one. I learned my lesson not to mess with a tuned Harley or a Lightning). Just a few thoughts

Almost forgot to mention the tonneau - the stock tonneau is a LEER cover. They're about 600-800 depending on which ford dealer you go to

not yet...

I spent almost 3 hours and I gotta say, wasn't fun. Still going to get it but not the deal I really wanted. getting 4 new tires. Top was a no go but still some hope. Logo was missing from center console but they won't replace. getting a serious reaming on my trade. Oh well. While I was sitting there I could look out the window at the Harley. I bet at least 15 people stopped and looked at it.
Thanks for the info. I'll leave it pretty much stock for now. What did you mean by dropping alot, sagging from the toungue weight? FYI my boat is a 20 ft bassboat total weight about 2800#s. I also drive about 6-7000 miles a year towing a boat.
Hope to be in it by the end of the week. Thanks again...
