Picking up a 2002 HD tomorrow, audio question

Getting rid of the 99 Lightning, and sad

But needed the room, so the HD is the way to go...

Anyway, I've been speed reading thru the board, so sorry if this has been asked a million times before, but I'm trying to get ideas on the best way to get a decent sub mounted in the rear of these trucks- any and all help would be appreciated!

Thx, and go easy on the HD Noob

CH

you'll probably find what you need over at nhtoc.com under the audio forums. Bunch of sub and system stuff there

Can't say it's the best way since I am not an audio expert...... but the JL Audio stealth box replacement for the rear console works great. If you want to keep the original configuration the rear center console skin goes right over the box so you never even know it's there. You do loose almost all functionality of the console, save about 2 inches of depth. Sounds great though. I have heard that their stealth box replacement for the Dodge works in our trucks, but I have not seen one done. The Dodge version is a complete middle seat replacement and I've heard it give you a middle seat and a stealth sub box all in one. With this option you would pick up a middle seat and loose the rear console. The stealth box for the rear console should cost you between $400 & $500 unless you know someone.

I checked out the JLAudio website and that stealth box is really nice. I'd like to go with that for my HD, but I don't need the sub. Already have 4 12"s sitting around gathering dust, two are a year old, and the other 2 are less than 3 months old. 10 weeks after I put the newest set in my 2000 L I totalled it! Anyway, can you get that JL box w/out the sub already installed?

You can BUILD your own box.
It was designed by HD4mula(another member here) and I can send you the diagrams for it.

It can house a 10" or 12" driver.

I think I ended up with a pretty good deal, we'll see when it arrives. Ended up going for broke and will be hell to install it all, but here's what I ended up with:

(Deck, changer, speakers)

1 Pioneer Premier DEH-P850MP
1 Pioneer Premier CDX-P686
2 pair Infinity 6800CS (doors)
1 JL Stealthbox for Harley 12W3 in back console

(Alarm System)
1 Prestige APS-995C
1 DEI 555F Ignition Module

(Wire, adapters, face kit, etc)

1 4 Gauge Amp kit
1 Face Kit
1 Wire Harness
Extra speaker wire
Extra 8g. wire.
1 2 way block for power
1 4 way block for ground
1 pack of fuses
3 Rockford Fosgate RCA's twisted pair 16'
1 shipping insurance

Ended up with all of this for $1,456.00 shipped. The alarm system will run me about $175 to get installed, everything else I'll do myself.

If all goes well, I'll let you guys know where I picked it up (website). Should be no problems though. They seemed pretty "on the level".

Should all be here next week. Here's hoping!

The bottom is mounted on brackets about 1.5" above top floor. If you see the diagram you will quickly understand.
