Warrenty or Not?
Warrenty or Not?
Woke up this morning to find my fog light swinging in the breeze. The plastic mount broke in half. I know I didnt hit anything, so Im not sure why it went on vacation. Do you think Ford would cover this or do you think they would try to jerk me around.
Plus if I do go in just for that, do I need to hook back up the Supertuner and reset the computer to the stock settings, even though they shouldnt have to hook up, to see that the bracket is broke?
Is this bracket braking a common problem?
Thanks for the info.

its a very common problem, and i believe there are new updated brackets with more reinforcing to them so it won't happen as often.
it should be covered under warranty
it should be covered under warranty
they'd probably want to install it themselves at the dealer so they have the paperwork and what not.
i told them mine fell off, so they had to give me a whole new assembly. all that was left was the little bracket that was attached to the bolts.
so now i've got a spare IF i ever need one and won't have to fork over 200 bucks for a new fog, since you can't just get the bracket, you have to buy the whole assembly

It's pretty rare that they'll just give you a part and have you do it yourself.
Ford is very strict about making sure that their parts are installed by 'factory trained technicians' and such. Plus, the part that is removed must be sent back to Ford for inspection and approval on the warranty work to the individual dealership.
My dealership was nice enough to release a 'under hood' sticker (the belt schematic sticker) to me on warranty but demanded that I bring them the old one because it was vital to them getting reimbursed.
*shrugs* You might get lucky but, from my experiences, they're going to want to do it themselves.

Sorry man... I do not.
Just went back through that work order and it's not mentioned there
Should be easy to find... took like a month to come in though...
I'd get to it... CHOP CHOP!

they won't let you keep the old parts, because inorder for ford to pay for the warranty work, the dealership has to return any remaining parts so ford knows that the dealer isn't just ordering warranty parts and giving them away or something
