Can I just put a Lightning pulley without a chip?

Well ,I FINALLY got the whole ordeal with the dealer worked out. First thing I want to do to the truck is drop shackles and a Lightning pulley. My question is ,can I put a Lightning pulley just like that ,or do I need to do some other mods to support it like a chip? Thanks

If you are talking about the L upper pulley, then you can get away without a chip. Just make sure you disconnect the boost by pass valve(or whatever it's called)! You will probably need a bigger belt too....

Since there are a lot of guys running 6# lowers without a chip, I think you will be safe with a Lightning upper and no chip. I don't know why you would want to change the upper when you can as much and a lot more boost out of a lower pulley.
Just so you know, it will void your warranty on you blower...

I would change the lower pulley. A chip will really wake up your truck. Much more than just a pulley. Check out

Reason is because my coworker has a Lightning and he changed his pulleys and he gave me his stock one for free. I dont want to spend much money on the HD truck ,I think I will just put drop shackles on it and change the stereo. Motor wise ,I want to leave it stock. I have my other race car to work on.
