8# is rediculas without a slightly more built engine. Your asking for problems with detonation and overall rod stress if you plan on actually running your truck hard at all.

Looking at your address (Utah), I suspect you are at a high altitude. This will reduce your cylinder pressure and make the 8# a better choice. We are at 2500' and I think I can use some extra boost. I have a 6# on my truck and a 8# on my bench. This will be going on when the snow melts.

2000ft or below, go 6#.
Above, go 8#.

From everything I've heard, you can run an 8# in lower altitudes fine, but when on the highway, don't downshift into second, or it could cause problems. The rods in these engines aren't the best I'm finding out.....

This is the reason I have a 8LB lower. The lightning guys who are afraid to mod or are mildly modified get "real used" to the sight my tailgate.

afraid? a 1/4 mile run @ 12.97 (which is basically a lucky 13) is pretty poor for having an 8# pullie. I ran a 13.67 with just a chip, the guys I go to the track with have 4#ers mostly (6 at most)and they all run better times than you by about 2/10ths or more. For having "mildly modified" trucks they sure would put your foot in your mouth for you.

wrong.. an 8# on a HD, is like running a 6# on your lightning.

i ran a 6# daily on my lightning, and will soon be running an 8# on the HD.

An 8# on a HD truck = a 6# on an L ...no **** , just because you can even the horse power out doesnt mean its a smart thing to do. He was stating that if a L doesnt run an 8#er than they will "see his tail gate"...thats bs

"no sh*t?"

wtf your problem? i aint your girl, so watch your tone. all i was stating was differences between the two, and did not know if ya knew the difference... i know i didnt at first.

and he asked this.....

"is the 8# pulley safe?
i'm about to buy a pulley and i'm torn between the 6 or the 8#
anyone out there running the 8# on a stock bottom end?
and does anyone know if the superchips microtuner is reburnable to match the boost pulleys??

thanks
dan"

and your first responce was..
"8# is rediculas without a slightly more built engine. Your asking for problems with detonation and overall rod stress if you plan on actually running your truck hard at all."

So tell me, how was my responce wrong? 8 on a HD is same as 6 on an L. Done.

I agree 8# is the same as 6# on a lightning. And plenty of guys running 6# lowers on daily driven lightnings. The only way i see an 8# lower being a problem on a harely is if you switch the stock upper to a lightning stock upper. Then i think you are asking for trouble. I run the 4# lower on my truck and 1.5-2# upper. I see 14.5-15# of boost on my aftermarket and thats with even loseing a 1# of boost from the LT's.

when the **** did I ever say you were a girl? I know the 8# on a HD is the same as a 6# on an L. The tune actually has more to do with something going wrong at that boost level. I dont have a problem with you but I didnt apreciate the "tone" of this line..

wrong.. an 8# on a HD, is like running a 6# on your lightning.
Talk to me like a child and youll get the same in return. Dont tell me to watch my tone either, what are you going to do? Type louder?

I wasnt responding to the original post in my second post...I was replying to the other guy who seems to think that a L without an 8#er is barley modified or something. Read all the posts before you fall off your seat.
