update on #1682
Those friends from ftw and nhtoc... forgive the duplicate...
For those that are new to the "scene", my BRAND NEW two-tone was involved in an accident at 6 days old...
Here's an update...
see the pictures
The insurance company isn't totalling the truck. As you can see in the updated gallery, the truck's front end is fully disassembled. The forward body member between the engine compartment and the bumper has been cut off and will be replaced with a factory new piece. I don't have a list of all the damaged parts but here are most of them...
power steering pump
coolant reservior
super charger cooler
super charger fan, fan clutch
airbox
radiator
abs miscellaneous parts
battery support
hood
both front quarter panels
bumper
bumper mount, driver's side
lower valence
both airbags
passenger and driver seat-belt assemblies
there's a lot more I'm forgetting... The shop hasn't tested the rear differential or the transmission yet. The health of these are yet to be determined. My truck came to a sudden and violent stop from 50 miles an hour... When I got out of the truck, it was still in gear and NOT MOVING. For good reason, I'm concerned...
I'll have the full total tomorrow AM. The truck will be for sale immediately. I will use the offers from people and maybe an appraisal or two to negotiate the proper diminished value settlement with the insurance company. With that $$, I should be back to square one with the new two-tone truck the dealership ordered to replace this one since they promised me the same "deal" as last time (which was only two weeks ago, mind you...)
Take it easy...

Looks like some damage for sure, but nowhere near enough for a total on the truck, as bad as it looks, yes, it is repairable. Best of luck with the adjusters and the loss of value, that is one of the hardest arguments to make and even with tons of documentation it is gonna be an uphill battle.

Yeah - They're saying this morning that I have two options: 1) accept their offer or 2) deny the offer and sue them for what I consider the "real" loss of value.
I'll be able to prove the "actual" DV since I'm selling the truck immediately. Damn insurance companies....

Keep in mind that what you sell it for will not hold up as proof of DV, a good lawyer will say that you just did not know the value and accepted what you thought was fair, be very carefull here, I have been on both sides of that fence and I can tell you that it can get costly to prove your point.

Sorry to hear of your loss
I have not posted in a while (since I became a Chevy owner) But I do read the board often. I would tell them to kiss your A$$ and that you are going to Sue them. If you are not sueing for personal injury, they will jump at the offer to settle out. I would not want a BRAND NEW truck back that has been wrecked. If it was not your fault, then fight them all the way. Just my .02

DAMN! That sucks!! That's gotta be the worst. Having your truck wrecked when you still have wood from buying it. Sounds like you made it out better than the truck. Good Luck!!! Insurance companies were created by the Devil!! Be careful!
