Unhappy SOmebody just T-boned my new HD

It just sucks I was just comin from getting a estimate on having my audio visual system installed and then whan a busted truck and a two brolen ribs no punctures though. they hit me right in between the the doors on the passengers side, do you guys think it could be fixed I would say they were going a good 40 mph on impact, my truck went on two whels that was last thing I remebered before I blacked out. This sucks I was getting ready to order all my parts and now this.

Sorry to hear about the mishap. But I'm glad that you're up and on the go. Make sure the doctors take real good care of you.

really sorry to hear that! glad you are okay though. the truck can be replaced, you can't

depending on how bad it is, it might or might not be able to be fixed (obviously ) but there was one guy on here last year who bought a rolled HD and i thought there was no way he was gonna bring that thing to life, but he did and it was amazing after he was done. so who knows...

good luck, hope ya get better soon!

Insurance and repairs

All depends on if there was any damage to the frame. Insurance should cover damage, but if it's extensive (and expensive) they may total the vehicle.

If they want to total it, part of that is your decision too. It all depends on how much faith you have on getting it repaired properly from a reputable company.

I had a friend that bent the passenger side frame of his Cobra, and his insurance covered it. Rates went up as it was his own fault.

If it does get totalled, there's people on here that want the rear seats.

This October 5 days after I picked up my HD i got it head on by an old lady who got confused on the lanes and gas and brake pedals. She was going about 50 and it took about 8 weeks to fix it. Parts took a while to get and they had to pull the frame. As far as totaling the truck you might be better off. They might give you enough money to buy a new one. And you pain and suffering can be worth a lot, hint hint. I know it was worth a new set of rims and tires for me, and a sub box.
Glad to hear that you are ok and hope you get another truck out of this.

Sorry to hear about that. Glad you are ok.

It may be better to get a new Truck than to have yours fixed. Who knows what kind off problems you could end up with. Sounds like you have not done to much to the Truck yet.

FYI You, as the owner have first buy back rights. The insurance company or nobody else (unless you have a decent attorney) will tell you this and their not obligated to.

That simply means that if the vehicle is totaled and the insurance company pays for it then the truck belongs to them. They sell it as salvage to an auto wrecker for about $800 (may be up to a grand for the HD) but you have first rights to buy it back. Then you could sell the parts as you see fit....motor, tranny, grill, valance, seats, pedals, consoles, wheels, etc.

You tell the insurance company IN WRITING that you do not want to let the vehicle go, that you want to buy it back salvage. You'll definately come out on top. (I've had a good attorney represent me before) Good luck and get well buddy

Unhappy Sux a big green one!

The best part of all this is you are still alive! I am sorry to hear about this but I am glad to hear you are ok...(except for the back and neck pain). The info here is good. Talk to an lawyer. If they do total it, there will be lotsa peeps here to part it out to. I for one need a new tailgate. (got a ding in it first hour i had it, at rest area on the way home from dealer from a rock kicked up by a mower) I didn't notice it till I got it home. I hope this all works out for the best. Sometimes, even stuff like this can be a good thing. Take care, remember, your neck and back are VERY sore.

Thanks for the support guys I will try and post pictures, later, and soap Cain does know I called him on the way to the hospital. Man do my ribs hurt two broken, a lump on my forhead. Its amazing the front fender and the rear fender weren't even touched, but the cab with the doors looks like a mack truck hit it, the report says the taurus was going about 40mph, he wasn't watching the road but since I turned left it is going to be 50/50 fault, or maybee 30/ mine 70/ thiers. I still can't belive this, whne does the 04 HD come out . I'm not giving up on the harley crowd I just found you guys and your the greatest bunch of guys I found on the boards. Your all about having fun and helping others thanks to everyone for thier support and suggestions. keep em coming.
