some weights I discovered tonigt

Found my digital scale and weighed them. I realize these numbers are already floating around, but a second measurement never hurts.

spare is a 16x7 steel rim with a 255/70/16 tire: 67 pounds.

20" bling harley wheel and goodyear tire: 83 pounds each. I emailed goodyear and they said their tire is 35lbs, which makes the harley rim 48 lbs.

cool. thats just about what i got using my bathroom scale
i got 80lbs for the rims, and 60 for the spare, so i guess it was about 5 lbs off.
i guess that means i weigh 170 lbs and not 165

hmm, just thought of something...did you weigh the barely worn down front tires, or the most likely mostly worn down bald rear tires?

did you happen to weigh the tailgate too? somebody said it was like 30 lbs, but i find that really hard to believe. feels more like 50 at least to me

I weighed a front tire, with only 6k miles on it. I will weight the tailgate tomorrow, but things like that are hard to weight because of the shape. I may weight myself and then hold it and subract the diff....

I'll let you know in a couple of hours

Josh when yer runnin 165, 170, 30 lbs. can feel like 50 lbs. (just funnin ya) and while I'm thinkin bout it, can't you just do a search?

On the serious side....I am curious how much a tail gate weighs. Guess I'll just have to wait on Ken 800. By the way...Josh, I think Ken's trying to take yer job.

well i don't have a digital scale, so i'll leave it up to him to weigh that. although if he doesn't do it by this spring, you'll be sure that i will when i'm doing my "spring cleaning" on my truck. LoL.

there was a thread a few weeks ago in the L forum that ken posted. there were about 3 different weights guys were saying the tailgate weight. anywhere from 30 up to 100. its definately not heavier than one of the rims, but i still think its more than 30, so thats why i was curious
