FX4 to HD?

I can get a fully loaded (sunroof, heated seats, 6CD changer) 2003 HD Dark Shawdow Grey for 30993. Should I trade in my FX4 for the HD? Why did some of you go from a 4x4 to the HD? I have been pondering this for about 2 months now...What do you think?

Sounds like a great deal. '02 may be the first and last year for DSG.

There are no Dark Shadow Gray's for the 2003 model year. Only model year 2002 has the DSG.

Yeah, if it is DSG it is an 02 not an 03. Even if it is an 02 that price is good for a loaded HD. I'd say go for it. I've had many 4x4s and to be totally honest, I used them maybe once or twice a year when I went to the mountains in the winter and even then the roads in my area were clear enough where I did not need the 4wd.

Unless you do some serious off-roading there is no compelling reason in my opinion to have the 4wd. I even bought my wife a new Expy recently and just got the 2wd. The additional maintenance and cost of the 4wd just did not offset the return for my use.

That's my 2 cents. If you get the HD you will not be dissappointed.

I also went from 4x4 to the HD. The only drawback is you may be screwed if you get alot of snow. I figured living in Indy, it was best to have something fun to drive the 350 days out of the year when the streets are clear than to have a 4x4 that I only use a couple days out of the year. Plus the HD rides 10 times better than my 4x4 Lariat ever did. I say go with the HD, if the weather gets really bad, call in sick.

Yep..sorry that's a 02 not 03. My mistake. I live in Eastern Nebraska and we maybe get enough snow 3-4 times a year which a 4x4 is required. I find myself reading the HD forum more than the regular Supercrew forum on this site. My co-workers say use the sick pay if needed. HA! It sounds like you guys love your trucks!!

With all the options...that is a great deal!

Do you have A-plan/D-plan or some type of connections...or are these guys really trying to get rid of the 2002's to make room for the 2003's??? Anyways...I say DEFINATELY go for the HD...you'll love it!

Great deal. I traded my '01 4x4 SCrew for a HD and have no regrets at all. My dealer gave me practically full blue book value for my trade in and he dropped the price for the HD to $31k. They are trying very hard to get rid of the '02 HD's for the '03 models.

I traded out of a '01 Lariat 4x4 S'crew. I use the HD for street and highway cruising, pulling my Mustang to the strip, towing my 22' inboard ski boat and jet skiis... and waxing the occasional Mustang GT or Z28 that wants some . Bought a beater 4x4 '76 Scout for deer/quail/dove hunting. Much more fun this way .

Yea, I think they want to get the 02's out and make room for the 03's. Thanks for all the input. I will take her for a test drive Friday and we will see.

4x4 vs. 4x2

It is a great deal for the HD but do you need the 4x4? How is the weather in Nebraska. If you need the 4x4 and you are going to have the HD as your every day truck maybe it is not the best thing for you. I live in Boston and I need my Disco' to get around in the winter, cause the HD is afraid of snow and salt.
I guess my advise for what its worth is, yes that is a great deal for that truck, if you don't need the 4x4 why have it when you you could have the baddest truck on the planet.

That is my problem..4x4 or 4x2.. I live in Omaha Nebraska and we get about 3 or 4 good snowfalls a year (3 to 6 inches each) which a 4x4 would come in handy, but to trade up to the baddest truck on the planet is a convincing statement! The roads are usually cleared off in a day so I could just stay home with the kids and polish the truck..HA!

thats about what it is around here. 3-4 snowfalls every year, ranging from 1" to 10"
i try to advoid driving the HD if i can though. only had to drive it in the snow once since i got it back in 00, and it did aight in 4-5" of snow with sandbags in the bed. they clear the roads off pretty good, so not like you have to plow your way through. and if worst comes to worse, get a set of cheap 16" rims and some studded snow tires for the winter.
but for only 3 or 4 snowfalls a year, get the HD! you won't regreat it!
