Didn't someone say that they were up for hosting the 2nd rally in Atlanta for 2001?
Oh, that was Mike T. wasn't it?

i thought atlanta was mentioned as well,,,, i was born in marietta many moons ago, so it would be neat to see the area again,, i havent been to stone mountain since i was about 4 yrs old
Hi Lew,
We're doing it in Norfolk again, thanks to having the F-150 assembly plant, close to the drag strip, etc.
Steve Eppinger was the one who originally posed a question about the possibility of having a get-together in Atlanta, but when I asked him about a full-blown "National Rally" in Atlanta, if that was what he meant, he wasn't talking about that, he was just talking about a more casual and shorter get-together, that was a few months ago.
If everyone wants to do a Rally in Atlanta that's fine, but as for us, we'll be putting our efforts into the Norfolk Rally again this year. Now whether the Norfolk Rally this summer will be considered F-150 Online's "National Rally" for this year, that I don't know yet, but we're doing Norfolk again ourselves, thanks to all it has to offer and a convenient location for many people. That isn't to say Atlanta doesn't have things to offer, not at all, it's a huge town with plenty to offer, I just prefer to do the Norfolk Rally since the primary & best (according to FoMoCo, don't shoot me!) F-150 assembly plant is there, along with everything else the area has to offer like the oceanfront, and everything else we did last year, but with even more added.

We'll probably fly into Greensboro and I'll rent a ford from Hertz. (Expendition w/ 5.4!)

Hi JMC,
Yes, thanks, I'm getting back up to speed, I think it was one of those 72-hour bugs.
Last year the Norfolk Rally was held the last weekend in July, and that is probably the *approximate* time frame it will occur again this year, that hasn't been firmed up just yet. As soon as it is, we'll post it right here. That time frame seems to coincide with kids being out of school, most of the family vacations are already in at that point, etc.
We'd absolutely love to see you at the Rally JMC, and Neal & Izzy too! The minute we get the dates firmed, we'll post here in this section under a new topic, so all will see ASAP.

Guys, just checked out the 2001 Schedule for Virginia Motorsports Park and the 28th of July is a test & tune day.
http://www.virginiamotorsportspk.com/
That would be cool if we ended up with a bunch of Ford trucks there and then a few Chevy & Dodge guys show up looking for an unsuspected butt kicking.
Drag racing Saturday is covered, just the Ford plant tour is next.

What we ran into last year was trying to do three things in the same weekend. We tried to commit too early to a date and later had to change it and that upset some people.
The three things (as I recall) are:
1)Ford assembly plant tour. These are done on Friday mornings however, during the month of July they are shutdown for two weeks for the big switchover to the new model year. This is when the employees have their vacation. We had a hard time nailing down this two week window. I'm even more nervous about dates prior to July due to slow sales in 2001. If they were ever going to shutdown (or slowdown) a plant, it would be near the end of a model year run,(I would think). Nobody would want to tour a plant when it wasn't producing, sparks flying, forklifts running over your toes, etc...
2)Friday Night Entertainment, there are many 'Free' outdoor TGIF's but, they don't start until mid/late June.
3)Saturday Virginia Motorsports Park Dragstrip, Test & Tune. I guess this is where the dates should spring from, avoiding July due to Number (1).
When Mike is ready, I will perform what tasks are assigned to me.

Just starting to put my vacation time request in and just wondering. I'll be calling you soon, just have to find the code for the computer and I'll be laughing in about a week or two after I call you.
