I have come up with a recommendation for how people should spend time in prison. It will work and it has many benefits:

1. Save millions of taxpayers money.
2. Insure those that serve time and are released will never return.
3. Reinstate that doing time is PUNISHMENT, not fun time.
4. Relieve stress on prison guards due to inmates having to much free time.

That’s only a few good things I am sure there are many more.

I would like to know what others think of this recommendation. However, if you’re a criminal defense attorney please state so to begin with. I believe your views will be tainted due to the money you make on repeat business, which will be lost, based on my recommendations. Hey the good thing is you won’t have to offer 1st time discounts.

This is the recommendation:

1. No school except to get GED.
2. No TV’s.
3. No gyms.
4. No segregation of different types of prisoners (i.e. child molesters/rapist).
5. No play time.
6. No whatever else anyone can think of.

First, I am going to do away with the death penalty. So much debate back and forth if it works or not, I like it, but to make others happy I will do away with it and replace it as follows:

Life in prison until natural death. These people will work 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. They will get two meals a day consisting of rice, bread and water. In their cell they shall have a 6-ft length of rope and a place to tie it to in the ceiling so if they choose they may end their stay in prison early. Liberals should love that it’s “pro-choice”.

For all others they shall work 16 hours a day, 6 days a week. They may pick one day a week that they do not have to work. On this day and every day they have off a week, they shall write a 40 page essay on what they did, how it was wrong, and what they have learned about it. They shall also write a detailed essay prior to release explaining how, and what they are going to do to make things right with the victim/victims, how they will change their behavior so as not to return to prison, and how they will educate others in their life on why one should live by the rules and laws. This essay shall be reviewed and graded by 12 of his/her peers (like a jury). In order to be released he/she must receive a score of at least a 90. If he/she has not received a grade of at least a 90 he/she shall have another chance one month after the first failed grade.

Definition of work (16 hours) – Digging a hole which measures 12 feet deep, by 20 feet long, by 20 feet wide. Once these dimensions have been achieved he/she shall fill the hole with the dirt removed and begin digging another hole to the same dimension.

All prisoners shall wear clothes that are the color white with black strips.

Special Case amendment – All prisoners that have been convicted of child molesting and/or child rape will be in the general population. They shall wear clothes that are the color yellow with pink stripes.

They too are subject to the same work conditions as the others with the exception of –
When another prisoner is sweating the special case prisoner shall wipe the regular prisoners sweat, and fetch him a drink when needed. This special case prisoner shall shower with the others and if a regular case prisoner needs help in bathing the special case shall assist as instructed. The special case shall shower with the regular prisons and NO guards allowed in during shower time.

This is a developing plan so please feel free to add your recommendations

 

I don't know about you but I am a fan of public hanging, I want a public hanging. Seeing a man hanging from the end of a rope will discourage a lot of crime, especially when he gives a twitch or two.

 

All that sounds good but I feel that if a prisner gets out of line then he/she shall be hog tied and beaten then thrown into the hole they dug for 3 days with out food or water.

Actually, isn't that pretty much happening already in Arizona? Isn't there some Sheriff that houses his prisoners in a tent city? No a/c. No tv. If I recall correctly, they wear pink stripes?

I think the Sheriff's name is Arapaio or Arpiao? Something like that.

Anybody in Arizona know what I'm talking about? Is it doing any good?

 

I would only add one other lengthy item to your list.

Once proven guilty the victims families have the option of determing sentencing. With the option of carrying out the sentence themselves.

Hows that for incentive to not rape,molest,kill,rob.

In another post during another agurment I had a great suggestion for child molestor/rapist but I don't need the fruit cake attorney that had sexually fanitsy coming along and trying to put holes in my LIBERAL proof recommendations.

The whole idea behind the "special cases" (child molestors) taking showers with normal prisoners with NO guards allowed is in the hopes that they (special cases) will get theirs in the end, pun intended...

As a matter of fact about 6 months ago I did see some information about what you mentioned. From my understanding it was working quit well, not as well as mine would, but in any case quit well.

There were a few quotes from some of the "visitors" which made it pretty clear they have no wants on wanting to return. Some of the quotes were "this place really sucks, and it's hot" "no way I am coming back here again"

Point being, if you make it punishment where the inmates hate it so bad they don't want to return then they will behave properly. In todays prisons much of the time it is much better inside then out and thats why some of them just go and commit another crime.

You could add convert to a Turkish style jail as well. That would keep many on the correct path.

No problem . I welcome all views and any debates so long as they are someones beliefs and how they truly feel. I don't mind anyone NOT agreeing with me. The one thing that bugs me and always will is NOT that someone may differ with me, but when they try making it personal and insulting because I may not feel their view is correct. You have not done that, but its those that I dislike. Mostly because when someone does that is because they don't have a sincere and core belief in what they may be trying to stand by.

The way I look at it, and strongly believe is if someone wants to disagree with me then do so and provide what "they" think is a good idea. If they have no idea, or possible soloution then they should remain quiet and stand to the side and let those of us with the ideas debate among ourselfs.

Nothing wrong with debating and throwing ideas around, but when there is no ideas and its only personal or insulting its like talking to a moron.

 

Personally, I think it's rediculous how we pay for criminals to have cable. In Pittsburg, I know homeless people will commit crimes so that they can spend the winter in Jail where it's warm, they get free meals, and TV! Since when has a jail cell become prime real estate?!? I say make 'em all like Alcatraz.

My idea will take care of the homeless wanting to come to jail for the winter. I don't think they will like working 16 hours a day digging a hole and then only getting 2 meals a day of rice, bread, and water.

Most homeless just don't like to work. What I could do is take say 20% of the money I save taxpayers and use that to open some places for the homeless. There they will have to go through a program which teaches then the basics they will need to succeed in life. There will be NO free handouts. They will have to work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. For every 8 hours of work they will receive 3 meals a day, and housing, etc. The 8 hours will be their pay in exchange for food and housing. If they don't perform the jobs assigned and attend the classes that are required then they will be dumped off somewhere far far away from any big city.

 

Your plan could be implemented quite easily, and cheaply. All we have to do is send the prisoners to Russia! They have wonderfully simple prisons there. What they charge is minimal, and in the Siberian ones, break-outs are rare. Think about the concept. It WOULD work.

 

I think the serious criminals should be dropped on an island like the good old days....Not too much upkeep there....As for less serious offenders, what ever happened to the good ol' chain gangs?
