Andy: "Why do they call you Red?"

Red: "Maybe it's because I'm Irish?"

I love that exchange, too funny!,,,,98

A very good movie indeed.
Not much action but fascinating from start to the end.
What an unexpected plot, I really thought, Andy would hang himself.

Wasn't that a Ford truck when Red visited Buxton?

Good movie but believe me inmates are not that nice of people. And most inmates don't deserve to be made into heros!

emmm..... they were not.
just a couple of them were nice (6 guys are less than 1% in that prison and one of them was actually innocent and one was really old).

I'll put it right up there with: Gladiator and Braveheart as movies I'll watch anytime they come on. I own it on DVD and have not been disappointed.

This moview was robbed out of an Emmy or Grammy, can't remember which but it was against Forest Gump. It was never a huge hit in the theatres. In my opinion that is due to the title.
