I think its just fine for anyone to drink, and as much or what ever they want. BUT it is NEVER ok to drive if you have been drinking. Personally myself I don't drink. When I did I did it at home, never away somewhere if I had to drive back. My worst fear was even if I had drank and not drove for hours afterwards, and then something happen, God forbid kill someone. I would alway be thinking to myself "What-if?"

However where the liberals come into this drinking and driving thing is since they have all kinds of excuses to get these morons off in my view makes them a part, BIG part of the problem.

They come in as a defense attorney and start throwing around such statements as "it was his first time" "he has never done anything wrong" "he has a family" "he was beat as a kid" "he has an adiction that he can't control" etc. all statements that = He is not responsible for his actions someone or something else is.

I don't care if a guy has never been in trouble, has a perfect record, has a family with 15 kids, dont matter to me. He is wrong, he made a VERY bad decission so now he should get life in prison/

Do that and you will stop drunk driving. First because most drunks do it over and over and over and over. So now that they are in prision they will never do it again. Second they are now an example for the rest of people that will give them something serious to think about before getting in their car after drinking.

 

NO Dennis, conservatives do not blame liberals for drunk driving, but we will blame liberals when brewers are being sued for making the beer. Now that is smart and I am suprprised it hasn't happened yet. Conservatives own up to it if they make a mistake. Even Bush did. Everybody makes mistakes regardless of political beliefs.

Liberals scare me. I don't have a problem with the tree hugging, and some of the other environmental issues (even though most of it is pure crap). Liberals have been changing things to suit their tastes without thought of the circumstances (just like a thirteen year old).

Liberals don't like smoke, so let's move to ban it in restaurants, which are private enterprises that propietors should be the decision makers. And by the way, let's sue BIG tobacco, for making the things in the first place, even though no one knew that smoking was that bad for you way back when and when it was discovered, smokers chose to do it anyway. Damn those tobacco companies for wanting to make money and not allowing liberals to taste their food.

Liberals don't like guns, so let's move to ban them too. Certainly they were just lying there when they killed someone. No one made a bad decision to leave it out or use it maliciously. The gun just woke up and decided to kill on it's own. Damn those gun makers for wanting to make money. Free enterprise at the expense of liberals, no way.

Liberals don't like abortion, how dare you get pregnant accidentally or otherwise and then expect to make a decision about it yourself. We should force you to have the child so that an unfortuately infertile couple can raise a child. So we will just move to ban that too.

Liberals say that the Oral office fiasco during the Zipper Administration is no ones business. Sorry, in the Oval office it is. Behind a tree, under a bridge, or in the backseat of a car it isn't.

Weather people smoke, own or like guns, or care to have an abortion for any reason is no ones business.

A certain segment of the population like their decision making priviledges that liberals want to strip away. Not the any of the afforementioned issues aren't sensitive issues and aren't abused from time to time. I'd rather retain the choice to do any of them.

Liberals need to stop whining and taking my money to distribute to poor welfare mamas and old farts who don't give a rats *** to help themselves (in most cases) and certainly could care less about me (again in most cases).

Liberals don't like abortion? Since when? Most liberals are pro choice. Most conservatives are pro life.

Are you telling me if a Republican was caught driving drunk that they wouldn't hire a lawyer to do whatever possible to get them off? I thought you were smarter than that. Republicans are no different than liberals who get caught by the law. They both will do what they can to get off.

Smoking bans are a good thing. As soon as you realize that smoking is a privilege and not a right, you'll realize why there are bans.

Drinking is also a privilege. That's why alcohol is regulated and there are laws banning drinking under certain conditions.

Gun ownership is a right and a privilege. I have several guns myself, including 3 handguns. A minor can't own a gun because of the legal document which must be signed. As you know a minor can't enter into a legal contract unless an adult parent or guardian signs it too. While a minor can't own a gun, the minor is allowed to shoot a gun.

Let's be clear about one thing. Most of the liberals I know are not against gun ownership. Let's get another thing straight. Two of the staunchest supporters of gun registration, waiting periods, and background checks are Reagan REPUBLICANS. Perhaps you heard of the Brady Law?

This blame game the right wingers constantly play is getting tiring. There's enough blame to go around for everybody. The problem is, the right wingers just refuse to admit it because it's a damned sight easier to blame others than it is to do something sincere about it.

I'm tired of all this right wing whining that keeps going on. Whine Whine Whine. It's starting to sound like a cheap import that can't start.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that a Bush had been arrested for assault a while back. What is it they say? Something about throwing stones in glass houses?

LOL, you guys even had a candidate running for the Republican Presidential nomination who had premarital sex, for Christ's sakes. What made it so laughable was that this particular candidate also preached about the sins of premarital sex!

BTW, what the hell is it with Florida? Can't you guys run an election? Do we need to send in the UN and Jimmy Carter to oversee your elections?

Smoking is a privilege. I hope one of your privileges gets affected one day. It is also very wrong to take this decision away from the restaurant owner. Smoking is a rotten disgusting stupid habit but it should not be stripped. You can't tell me that the fresh air isn't outside. Everyone tries to get off from criminal activity. It will be the liberals that start sueing brewers for it, someday.

Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach county have some serious problems at the poles. If you have ever been to any of these counties you would know why. Daily life is a circus there. I guess supervisors of elections are clowns.

Hello again my liberal friend. You make some very good points. Damn did I say that. I give credit where credit is due, of course that is the republician way.

Are there some republicians that are half-baked and wacked out, you bet. I have no problem admiting that. I also have no problem when some one can face up to there problem or mis-deed they had done. Such as Bush being a man and admiting he had a drinking problem then took care of it.

Now Clinton is a perfect example of a liberal. "I only inhaled" just can't quit admit the truth, like to spin everthing there is. Liberals usally have no solutions what so ever to any problem but take money out of my pocket. Republicians on the other hand do at least offer solutions. Now you may disagree with what they propose and I have at times as well, but at least there is something on the table to debate and perhaps agree on.

Liberals would rather not debate but keep things for issues. Its the only way they get elected to office is blaming "issues" on others. Thats what I mean when I say "Most" liberals do not care about the elder, kids, welfare people etc. Republicians do care they want to see people get on their own two feet and make something of themselfs.

I remember a few years back, don't remember if it was San Diego or San Fran. But the liberals were so concerned about the homeless they helped them out by making a video showing them how to properly pick through the trash for food, what to look for, etc. wanted to give them shopping carts for their belongings, of course saying it was there right to have it and how dare a store owner get pissed off about it since he is making a wind fall.

Its a fact that most homeless are there because they want to be. Thats fine. I do NOT want them to have any of my money, any of my food etc. If they want something I will have them over to mow the lawn, pick the weeds, pick up trash etc to earn some food. See thats called caring because I am helping them to relize to make it on your own means getting off your lazy *** and doing some real work.

Liberals dont give a rats *** about kids either especially the inner city kids. They figure better to screw them over and have an issue for more money to be spent on schools that don't work. Most people in the inner city agree with republicians on school vouchers. I quarentee you with vouchers kids will get a much BETTER education then they ever have. Once we can destroy and dismatle the school unions and get rid of stupid moron teachers we will have a better chance as well educating kids. Now mind you most teachers are very good, deserve a good wage, better then they have now. The reason they don't make what they are really worth is because of the unions, and the liberals backers pockting all the money.

Each and every CEO, FEO, and anyone else that had anything to do with cooking books put them in a real (regular) prison for the rest of their life, not a life sentence, until the day they die.

 

Sorry to hear about the crash acsii. I'd say just by looking at the pictures, it doesn't look totalled to me. FYI, leaving the scene of an injury accident can be a felony in Florida. To be a felony, the other must have knowledge of the injuries. If he had no knowledge, then it is a criminal traffic violation.

Whether a driver is under the influence of alcohol, the most widely abused drug in the country, or illegal narcotics, DUI is DUI. People driving when thier faculties are impaired is extremely dangerous to everyone else on the road. The sad thing is, due to thier "relaxed" physical state, the DUI driver is not injured nearly as bad, or as often as, the other driver involved in the crash.

Most police officers take DUI very seriously. Our families are not excluded from the danger of driving either. One of the guys in our DUI enforcement unit has been out for over a month because he got hit by a DUI driver.

Only if people would be more responsible for thier actions and realize they are too impaired to drive. It does not bother me one single bit when I arrest a drunk driver. They can **** and moan all they want about losing thier DL. But, THEY made the choice to get impaired, and they THEY decided to drive knowing they are impaired. I feel sorry for the innocent people that are injured ir killed by other people's negligence. I could care less if they lose thier license for a year or so. Maybe next time they will think twice before driving impaired. You would be amazed how many DUI arrests I make of drivers who either 1) have prior DUI convictions, or 2) already have thier DL's suspended for DUI when I arrest them yet again. Personally, I think the penalties for DUI should be even stricter then they are now.

Im pretty sure there is no way thats totalled. I dont work in our body shop, but i do our 24 hour towing, and i always make my own guesses when i pick up a wreck, and then ask the bodyshop manager the next day to see if im right. Its a fun game

Anypoos, I'm glad McBride won. First of all, because Janet Reno scares the hell out of me, and second of all, I'm so disappointed in Jeb's performance I'm seriously contemplating not voting for him. I just don't know.......

BTW, I was in downtown Orlando a few weeks ago at an event and got to talk to Tom Feeney. Now THAT guy is conservative...Makes me feel a little liberal standing next to him.....

cpadpl, a friend of mine suggested cutting a canal through the lower third of Florida. Seperating it and calling the the "Island of South Florida." It is frustrating being part of Jay Leno's monologue every night. Jeb Bush was interviewed on a local Tampa radio station last week and said "clearly what we are dealing with is a completely inept Supervisor of Elections"

I think Jeb is alright, not great but alright. When I hear McBride say things like "We can't improve our schools being cheaper, we have got to be better", it makes me cringe at what tax hikes that implies.

As far as schools are concerned, put a gate on I-75 and I-95 southbound and let us get caught up with what we have before more of the "I got tired of shoveling snow" crowd moves here with their screaming brats.

I have not heard what Tom Feeney has to say.

And anything is better than Reno. It is a good thing government officials not elected by arm wrestling ability, huh?

 

Ascii, I hope that things pan out for you. It sucks that your truck is messed up, but it's even worst when some one is getting away with it. I would be rip *****, for sure!

The drinking and driving debate could go on forever, as we can see. Everyone has there own inturpretation of where the problem lies. How about putting some of the blame where the problem originates. It's a socital, or cultural problem. We are appauled at the amount of drunk drivers but nothing is ever said about all the people in all the bars and clubs who socialize with a bunch of drinks. It's pretty scarry when I think about it. I have been in different bars where there are large numbers of intoxicated people leaving, driving, after closing. I drink, and I will admit that I have not always made the wisest decisions myself. I'd like to think that I have become smarter with age.

It's too easy to blame the companies that manufacture the alcohol, or the establishments that sell and serve it. It's too easy to blame this on politics. A [very] large majority of the country have some bad habits. It's something that has grown for decades. Maybe what we need is some large scale behavior modification. Seems pretty unrealistic though doesn't it!

Once we as a society start holding individuals accountable for their actions (something liberals DO NOT want to do) then we will see many of these problems go away. It is truly that simple

Once people get in their mind that there is right or wrong and you will be held accountable for your actions regardless if you were beat as a child, or what ever other problem/reason liberals come up with to blame it on then we will do just fine.
