Thumbs up maybe moving to Dallas area, need help

But I was needing some help from all you current and former Dallas and Ft. Worth residents.

What communities should I look at in terms of housing affordability and good school districts. So far, I'm thinking Plano and Bedford. The really outlying communities are out because I will be working in downtown Dallas and flying out of DFW regularly. I really appreciate any help y'all can give.

hey kansas...

welcome to big D...plano is where i live and it,s an upscale community...we have light rail starting soon and the tollway is streching into frisco which is west of plano ...they will be your only alternative (until you learn the lay of the land and know the short cuts) as to getting downtown...central is about to be chocked off with the expansion of the interchange at LBJ and central for the next couple of years...190 (or g.bush tollway) will eventually take you to dfw or at least close to it...bedford is to the southwest of the airport but coming down 183 to get into downtown can be suicidal and is almost always stopped up with some serious accidents...your going to enjoy this city...ive lived elsewhere but always seem to return to dallas..and the best part of it is that there is no state income tax (although the areas 8.25% sales tax may take some getting used too)...my vote..plano..great schools, low crime(tough cops),clean city, plenty of entertainment...hope to see you soon at one of the get togethers..good luck

I live in Flower Mound, which is due north of the D/FW airport. I used to fly a lot, and it only took about 20 minutes to get to there, if traffic isn't bad.

It's a bit of a hike to downtown, so depending on how much you fly vs. the office, it might be too far.

5 years ago, houses were cheaper than in Plano, with bigger lots. I don't know if that's still true, since prices have gone up so much.

But wherever you choose, if it's in Texas, nowhere is better!!

Cool

I also live in Flower Mound! I think it is a great place to live. It takes 20 minutes max to get to the airport 30 or 40 to get to Dallas. It's got beautiful homes and friendly neighbors..I'd definetly recommend it to you!
