next Gen Corvette

Not sure if this has been covered yet, cuz this L forum moves so fast i don't know how any of you's keep up with it, but i was in heritages today looking for the new truckin issue and i saw on the cover of the next road and track a pic of the next gen. corvette concept. Article is on page 64. It looks like crap though. I'm not a big fan of the current ones, but this one is just down right fugly. Looks more like the 350Z than it does an american sports car. Anybody have a pic to post of it? Just curious. If you want a vette, get it before these ugly things come out.

The next Corvette will look nothing like the R&T rendition. The only appearance issue they were right about was the elimination of hideaway headlights to lighten the vehicle and cut costs.

What you're looking at in R&T is a "composite picture." It won't look anything like that. C&D had their own "composite picture" in their July issue. They are alot closer to how the C6 will look. Similar in aero to the C5, just moreso, with conventional headlights. The C6 in R&T would never sell.

"C6- Will be a 2005, released in early 2004, will have exposed headlights, was held back because of concerns by Bob Lutz, new GM head of design. Remember that the designer for the C6 is the same designer that did the Butt Ugly Pontiac Aztec. Look to see 2 engine options. A 5.7 and a high performance 6.0 liter. Base engine will be 400Hp and 400 ft. lb torque, Z06 will be 425 and 420 ft. lb torque. Also OnStar, Navigational System option, HID Xenon headlight option, variable displacement, and better sound system. Rollout will be almost the same as the C5, first a base model, then another new model the next year and then the Z06 equivalent for the next year."

all of those pics look better than the actual pics of the concept in road and track. They are all still ugly, but the concept that they built looks like a 350Z. go look in hte mag. page 64

Harley...it's not a GM concept...it is R&T's shot in the dark guess.

Just like their guess at the new stang...and motor trends guess...if you look at all these "concepts" they are all completely different from mag to mag.

Anyone who has seen the real clay's of these highly anticipated models (C6, S-197) knows how far off the mags are.

They'll be building it right down the road from me... I have a contact that works at the Vette plant.... I'll see if he can give me an insider's scoop.
