Nice Minivan! (street racing

This story contains me blowing someone away and being chased. Quite thrilling if you ask me!

I'm driving a Highlander, not my F-150

Warning: A few bad words but nothing too bad. So, do NOT read if you are scared of bad words (even thought there aren't that many!

This is NOT how I normally drive. I'm normally a speed limit or only 5mph over person.

Adrenaline (sp?) is pumping right now! W00T!

Well, it rained today so the street races were kind of a wash. The cops were all over. All the cars that normally race were there and some were lining the sides of the road but cops were driving back and forth so no one was racing. We just think the cops didn't want those cars racing with the puddles out there. If you hit a puddle going that fast, then...

Normally the cops aren't that thick.

Well, I decided to head home. It is around 11:30 at this time so the roads are pretty clear. I'm catching all the read lights so I'm flooring it, doing a little peel out but I was stopping at 40mph (the speed limit).

Well, I'm cruising and the only thing on the road with me are a black prelude with a woman driving it (older so I know she wouldn't want to race), and a blue minivan. Well I come up on the drivers side of the minivan (It is in the middle lane, three lane road). He looks over at me and is young. Guessing HS or College. Probably HS senior's. I just stomp it and take off. I get blow ahead of them like 6 car lengths. I switch over to right lane and slow down. Van comes up and I get behind it. I see four people in the car. I drive up along the passenger windows and see some other kid in there and just floor it and take off. I switched back to the middle lane and they got in the right. I was just messing with them. Hopeing they saw me.

REDlight. I'm blasting Green Day Warning... incase anyone knows what they sound like. The van comes up next to me and the driver yells out, "Hey, Nice music ***!."

I just camly reach and hit the off button and look over. They passenger proceeds to yell works like retard and faget at me. The they say, "Hey rick come up here and get some of this." So some kid looks between the seats and saies, "***, ***, ***!"

Someone else is yelling, "He might pull a gun on us"

The whole time I'm just looking over smiling at them. I flip the car into neutral and give it a rev.

He looks at me for a second and then said, "That sounds like a really big engine there." They all proceed to laugh at the engine part. For those that don't know. The highlander has a High Reving V6 pushing around 220 lbs tq and 220 hp. Front wheel drive so I don't lose too much power down the drive line. The Highlander is also blessed because it only weights 3600 pounds. (3800 with my fat **** in it )

Well, he starts watching the light while the rest of his van load yells stuff at me. Someone finally says, "Hey give it a rest. Looks like he has had a long way to go tonight." or something on that matter. I think it might have been the passenger who said that. Didn't stop the yelling though.

Well, I don't even have to launch this baby. I just waited for green. I saw the minivan stomp it because it rev'ed up and started taking off. He was like 1/2 infront of me when I stomped on it.

Now, my front tires are on those white lines they put on the road so I let out a HUGE! peel out and take off. By the top of first I'm about 5 car lengths of head of him. Into 2nd second I'm still moving so I shut it down around 60 - 65. My turn is coming up so I start slowing down. I also noticed a lot of cars where on the road now (Maybe 4 more behind me plus the minivan I just blew away! I saw the minivan make a right turn. I wish they would have kept going because I caught the next redlight and they would have come up next to me.

Here is where I get chased!

Now at the redlight there is a black ranger in the center lane so no one can come up next to me. Light turns green and everyone takes off. The ranger goes blowing on. I'm in normal speed limit mode right now b/c it is hard to tell if a cop is behind you at night.

Well I hear people yelling between cars and look to my left and there are two cars. I didn't know what they were. All I caught was, "That one!" and the passenger pointing in my direction. At this point I'm thinking to myself, "WTF do they want to do! Do they wanan race?"

Redlight again (who could have imagined!) Well both those cars are right behind me and the driver to the one directly behind me leans out, looks to the car behind him, and points at me. I'm thinking, "crap!" because I've seen the cars they are driving are old POS so I know they don't want to race. Maybe they just wanted to ask me questions about my ride because that was a nice peel otu I did! but I wasn't taking a risk.

Light turns green, I floor it to the corner, brake, and get onto a different street. Sure enough they turn behind me. Here they come up next to me and I'm thinking they might be up to no good. (I was positive these cars were full of HS kids)

Well, I wait until they are coming right up next to me. I then slammed on the brakes and took a U-turn and then made a right. I looked back to see them making the next U-turn. This is an empty street so I'm just hauling **** down it. I blow into a neighbhor hood and shut my car down, turn lights off and just sit. Sure enough. The two cars blow by me. Ahh... so maybe it wasn't an exciting chase but blowing away the minivan was great!

I tried to check for spelling and grammar mistakes but it is late and I sliced a few of my finger today so it is very hard to type with a bandaid on your finger tip...

Now would be a great time to take a look at the thread about why you shouldn't steet race.

Even in my younger years.. yes we did it. On an isolated road which we ensured was clear from others.

Think about hitting a kid or another person while playing such games. Let it sink in, and the next time some ahole pulls up at the light, just right them off as the morons they are.

Don't worry. I've read it.

Like I said, there were no cars infront of me during any of the racing.

I'm just saying don't be giving people **** and calling them **** when your in a minivan... not that minivans are bad since my father drove one and I know some people that drive them but they don't go around giving people ****.

Thumbs up

HAHAHA funny story, there aren't enough streetracing stories on this site!

there's a minivan on my street with "racing stripes" that this HS kid drives, he's always peeling out.. maybe i should get you over here to teach him a lesson haha

i'm always trying to "own" things in my 4.2L truck but nobody can ever tell i'm accelerating haha, i'm hoping an intake will help them figure it out a little

anyway, just wanted to say i liked your story, and minivans with fools like that in it deserve to be taught a lesson

Street racing a highlander, sounds like an interesting story

Please man, if its late at night, the last thing you want to be doing is street racing. Considering the roads are wet, wtf were you thinking. Sorry, but I have seen a lot of accidents happen and Ive been involved in 2. None were my fault but some people just dont know how to drive. What if you hit someone crossing the street? Not very responsible. If you were stopped, a street racing ticket can get expensive and speeding tickets are getting to over $200. Anyways, sell the Toyota and get a Ford.

Intel,

Just as a follow up..... You seem to be smart enough to use some judgement when screwing around on the street, and I didn't mean to imply you were one of the mindless types.

Even then though, the best thing is to just avoid it. When I was about 17 or so I was coming back from a friends house through a residential zone. I had a couple beers in me (at least as stupid as racing sober) but was doing the limit of 25 due to this fact. From between 2 cars a HUGE St. Bernard ran out into the street. I locked it up, swerved, and somehow missed the dog. I also ended up somewhat sideways between the parked cars on either side of the road.

That single incident made me realize that it could have just as easily been a person. Even at low speeds, luck and dry roads played a part in not hitting it.

Oh yeah????

For those that don't know, Dano owned a F150, had some problems, bad mouthed it, bought a Silverado, and then wreaked havoc here until he was banned...

Those are some good race stories Raoul. I'd tell ya about a few of my own, but all I can beat are S-10's and ricer's.

Hey, don't dis the minivans. A new windstar (our work van) trashed my 460 truck....not good. We have a streach of road leading to a business that we race on here. It is deserted during the night, and is like 1.5miles long, flat and straight. I don't like in town racing, there is just too much that can go wrong.

Speaking of minivans my daughter and I were about terrified the other day. We are sitting at a light and we were surrounded by minivans. One in front of me, one to the left, one to the right, and a few behind me I am thinking WTF is going on here some kind of damn minivan (family bus) sale going on here in town? Then I relize "hey its cool, if I were to get in an accident with any one of them I will live" because I am higher up and got an F150

Now don't get me wrong those of you who love your minivans, but I am divorced and have my daughter but if I had a complete family no way would I have a minivan I would just strap all the kids back in the truck bed throw back some cookies from time to time. No need to worry about any messes they may make can always wash it out. I would say to them "isn't this much better then a minivan? all that fresh air?"

There are 3 nice imports- Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, and Nissan skyline. have fun finding any of those for a decent price.

if u want some speed and TORQUE get a mustang/LS1/vette etc, not some 4-6cyl import
