other sites are just not the same...
f150world imparticular,
i have ventured over to other f150 sites to see more/different information and different oppinions on topics. but i am always dissapointed when i go to another site. i find the structure of the site and the things you can do quite limited on other sites. if i ran these other places i would come here and take some lessons/notes. i dunno why i am posting...i just wish there were more boards like this around. do you agree?

Everytime I try to join F-150 World, it say's "sorry wrong password" or "someone already has that user name." It's so stupid! I might as well throw my freakin' hands in the air! Or click my heels 3 times. You think that might work???
I am a member of all 3, however, this one is my favourite for a variety of reasons.
I find the user interface here to be very easy to use compared to the others.
The speed of this site is always fast. Not mentioning any names, but one of the other sites is so slow sometimes, it gets frustrating waiting for pages to load.
I may be wrong, but I find this site has a slightly older group of people, and therefore slightly more sophisticated. It's refreshing
I do enjoy the fact that there are several sites because it give me an opportunity to read everything I can get my grubby little hands on!
I've learned a lot and gained many ideas from all the Ford sites, but this will always be my favourite.
One thing that is on my wish list:
The online store here expand a bit and carry a few extra items.
Regards
Habibi

This is the ONLY site I visit - EVERYDAY!
I have joined other sites & find they are not the same as this - this 1 is the most in-depth of any of them!
As for f150world - it's gone! It's now Ford Truck World & the quality since the change (purported to be in NAME only - as if!) has deteriorated drastically. More often then not it's unavailable, links are wrong or missing or all the bowing & applauding of the "management" is a bit much. I check the Chapter forums & that's about it. Free speech/opinions are prohibited UNLESS it's the same opinion as the powers that be. I find this site's content FAR better.
For those who think I'm brown nosing Steve I am not. We've disagreed openly MANY times - he'll be the first to admit that. If I disagree I speak out. If he disagrees he speaks out. We are able to exchange opinions/ideas as adults - he's never sent an email telling me I need to be less critical of my OPINIONS of the Ford CONCEPT vehicles or that I am WRONG for not liking the concept vehicles! But, I digress - Steve is far more dedicated to the people who make up this site & it shows.
I tell every Ford TRUCK owner about Online & I'm happy to do it. As for other sites, I never remember their addy's so it's harder to promote them. Then again, this is the only F150 site I need so it's a moot point.
Thanks Steve for keeping this site & for your hard work & personal investment in it.
BTW - please don't delete or lock this thread - I find it important & informative!

I agree that f150 online is a lot more user friendly. I love the way the forums are structured and the speed of the server. My company does a lot of custom software development, mostly web based and I can tell you this is the cleanest of all the f150 sites. My hats off to the webmaster.
On the other hand I have not had any bad experiences on Ford Truck World (formerly F150world). As a matter of fact they have an extremely active California chapter and after three events with them I can't wait for the next get together. Last Sunday they had a kickoff party for the new magazine based on the website. The party was in Los Almitos and can you believe they had over 70 trucks (members) from as far away as the bay area there. I think there was a member there from as far away as WA.
They also have what they call Mod parties where they will meet at a members house and work on Mods as a group . At the last one they actually lowered two trucks and raised one. This is some great free advice and mentoring for those of us who have not been modding our trucks for years.
I have gotten a lot of great advice on this site but actually seeing some of these great trucks in person and getting hands on advice is invaluable. Now if f150online decides to start a CA chapter I will be the first to sign up. In my opinion both sites serve a great purpose and I think I can be a big fan of both.....
Iwao here OCSCrew there

Ford sells 800,000 trucks a year.
If only half of buyers have Internet/PC, Lord knows there are more potential members than any truck site could ever hope for.
No need for one to put the other down or vice versa.
Both sites have their strong points.
This site has info accessable three years back with a strong search engine. I haven't responded to threads on the 'World' because I can't work the search there and I felt that linking to the answer over here would be frowned upon.
That site has a strong 'people' connection as mentioned above. I have attended functions with the Virginia Chapter and the Ohio Chapter. They are all human beings just like here. I would bet that 10 or 15 Virginia Chapter members would enjoy our Norfolk Plant Tour and other online rally activities at the end of July but, tension between the sites, perceived stealing of members whatever, prevents me from mentioning it there.
Sometimes site loyalty seems like Brand/Make loyalty.
"...I'm a Ford man..."
...I'm a www.fill_in_blank.com man..."
Raoul here Raoul there (Raoul in his underwear)
(p.s. no one holds a candle to Steve when it comes to html)
(a little something for your resume)
(just cut out the underwear part)

thanks for the great replies guys (and gals)
i think the thing that really makes me like this site is how easy it is to use. its always fast, easy to find info, and like Raoul said...the search engine is pretty impressive. i just signed up at f150world. i was kinda disapointed my current SN here is taken over there. nothing i can blame the site about...just kinda sucks
. oh well.

" . . . other sites are just not the same . . . "
I think we should be happy with that . . . ! Not better . . . not worse . . . just different . . .
I, for one, get tired of "kill" stories! That's why I first went to The World.
It seems that a question is answered, basically, the same way on both sites (especially since a great many people are registered on both sites) but the search feature here is much better.
I do feel more a part of The World . . . I joined the PA chapter and even made the Hooters/Winery Meet this past April. I couldn't get to Carlisle but 26 members from 8 states did make the trip!
If I had to rate the two sites I would have to say that for ease of use you can't beat 'on-line', for technical information I think the two are about the same, for feeling welcome (how do you measure that he wonders?) I'd have to vote for The World!
And, we shouldn't forget the '.net', very small, but very informative!
Does that mean I won't be here everyday . . . I don't think so.

I admit that I requent both boards but I am hanging out on Ford Truck World a lot more as time goes on. The majority of new posts here seem to be in the Lightning forum.
At Ford Truck World (formerly F150World) I like that all members post in different forums and not just the one that has to do with the model of their truck.
Both sites offer different members different things and both will keep growing. World has Chapters and now their own magazine. This site has a lot more history and has been around longer, which means that some members stick around because they are happy and never wanted to join another site.
World has 25,530 members
Online has 24,796 members
Obviously, there are enough people who enjoy both sites.
Personally, I am a member of a bunch of message boards:
Pickuptruck.com
Odyclub.com (wife's Honda Odyssey)
Car and Driver
BlueOvalNews
I am not active on many other than this site, FTW and Odyclub (mainly because I do not have the time).
I just love finding out new information and what people are doing with their vehicles.

That is a great part I drive a PSD E350 at work so I'm familar with them as will & do reply in Engines Diesel
I started out here online & was informed about a World Chapter in my area so I joined there frequented both & when the search engine here crashed & was then off line I was here once a week instead of daily
I find it a little easier to do stuff there myself
