Southern Indiana Earthquake
Southern Indiana Earthquake
Did anyone out there feel the earthquake we had today? It was pretty cool - it was only a magnitude of 5.0 but stuff like this doesn't happen every day here. Especially only a few miles form my house. For a while we actually though it was an explosion in the plant - I was in the plant office on the second floor and the place was rocking and rolling. Some people have reported feeling it as far away as Michigan and West Virgina. How about you? Did you feel it?

I was in near Vincennes yesterday when it happened, and didn't feel a thing. This really sucks because I'm a geologist!!!!!!!!!!
I was doing some groundwater monitoring at a closed landfill, which is now a hay field, so I wasn't around any shaking walls to reference any movement by. The guy I was with was sitting on the bumper of the van and felt the van start shaking. He thought was imagining things until we were on our way back and heard about it on the radio.

Yep, I felt it also. I was in front of my computer and I felt the house move a bit and also heard a small rumble. I didn't realize it was a earthquake until today when I read something on the net about it. Just like Goneloco said doesn't happen hear much in the Midwest, even though we are very high on the list to have a major earthquake anytime?
