New guy with a Ford
I've had my '88 F-150 for just over two years now. It is my first vehicle (I'm 18 now) and it has been a good one. It is a regular cab full bed 302 with 5-speed tranny. I bought it from my uncle and at first I didn't think I would like the manual, but the clutch and I have gotten along pretty well. I'm not one of those crazy teens that burn out at every stop light either
. I use it to haul my toys which currently include a '99 Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4, '99 Max II amphibious 6x6, and a '96 Sea-Doo GSX.
My only mod is a CD player. That sure comes in handy during my long drives. I travel long distances to ride ATVs in other states with friends. I have just over 168,000 miles and it runs like a new one. Change the oil and add gas.
That's my F-150 story. Anyone else have an '88 with no rust? I see so many with the rear fenders practically gone.

Welcome to the boards. I think there are quite a few 88 f-150's on here, some are rusty beaters used for offroading, but there are also a few with perfect paint that could pass as show trucks.

It's always nice to hear the good Ford truck stories. Some times it seems like we only hear from people when something is wrong with thier Ford truck.
You have obviously treated your truck very well. I don't know how you have managed that. By the time I was eighteen I think I had been through about five cars. I could only afford the junkers then that might have had a little to do with it.
Keep doing what you have been doing and your F150 should continue to treat you well. When you are ready for a new truck, although there are some here that may not agree with me, the late models will treat you as well as you treat them as well.
Congratulations on taking care of a good thing!
