2003 Mercury Marauder....
A rear wheel drive, 302 hp 4.6 liter with true duals and
hitched to a 4-speed automatic. It's being billed as the
return of the "Authentic American Muscle Sedan". So
what do you think?

I think I read that they were going to put the 5.4 in there but it wouldn't fit.
I saw this car a while ago. I think it's cool. I would prefer the Crown Vic, but either would be nice to drive. They are supposed to be comming out with a tricked out Crown Vic too. I guess production was delayed.
How about supercharging one of these. Boy, you sure could get grandma to church in a hurry!

comon guys
Mercury Marauder
I like it ... but agree wittom, would love to see it in Crown Vic clothing instead of Marquis. The suspension is fairly decent too and seems a little better than the SS:

If I had the extra dough, then one would be in my driveway. Its a total sleeper. Is that the same engine as a GT? Is it going to be blown? If it is, it will be one tight ride.

pretty cool
I agree it is a total sleeper.......... when is this bad boy supposed to be relased for sale? The only reason I ask is that I heard (from a salesman) at the local dodge dealer that Dodge is going to stuff one of their "new and improved 5.7L Hemis" into a chrsyler 300M and have it into full production by the fall.......Maybe this is the return of of the "american muscle Sedan" I just love it when the big 3 compete for a market share, we all come out winners.
Its a sweet looking ride but I would have liked to see more power. ~7sec to sixty and upper 14's in the quarter isn't that fast. And Autoweek says you can't even break the rear tires without power-braking first. If they really are constrained to the 4.6L, they should put the new supercharged DOHC in there. Then it would be a REAL street sleeper.
You asked for a supercharger
This is a concept that has been making the show car circuit.
The Marauder Convertible's SOHC 4.6-liter V8 produces 335 hp and 355 lb-ft of torque. This is more than the production Marauder sedan, which puts out an even 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.
This V8 features a belt-driven Eaton supercharger that generates 6 psi of boost.
This would be my next car if they actually make it.

7sec. 0-60, upper 14's, not that good? Look at the size of that car. It's got to weigh about as much as my truck. I think thoes are pretty respectible times.
I thought the Grand Prix GTP was only somewhere in the low 200's for hp. Anyone know what they have for hp?
I don't remember where or when (and I could just be wrond) but I seem to remember reading that the tricked out Crown Vic is supposed to have the DOHC 4.6.

It'd suck to pay $35k for an American Muscle Sedan and have many a $20k Japanese sedan smoke you from the stoplight.
Don't get me wrong, I like the car, and the concept even more. Its just that when I think of classic Muscle Sedan's I think of tire-shredding torque monsters. With the mid 90's Impala SS exemplifying that most recently. I think the supercharged SOHC 4.6 would be a better fit than the tweaked DOHC 4.6 that's in it now.
