That 'salesman' is very mistaken, the 300M is a front drive based on the dodge intreped platform, even dam/chr could engineer a front transaxle to handle the 5.7 hemi, it wouldn't fit in that chassis

This isn't the first time I've heard the hemi in 300M discussion. They do want to do it in a reconfigured RWD platform. So, the salesman is not "very mistaken".

Hummmm, got you on that 'reconfigured rear wheel drive chassis. . . . kind of like saying the 'new' impala is the same as the mid '90's namesake . . . in nameplate/badge only, that dam/chr would be a fearsome car to pull next to, might brake and throw parts on you, LOL

BROTHERDAVE, you'll get a good view of the tail lights on an Altima 3.5(5sp). But that's not my point. I don't buy Japanese and don't particularly care for them. I just think that if they're gonna brand this car as a Muscle Sedan it should have an engine with a lot of power down low not one that has to rev to put out good peak numbers. The same problem that plagued the Cobra as I recall. It claimed to have 320hp and GM F-Body's were blowing it off the road. o:

Just my opinion. I'm sure most people would be perfectly happy with this car. I just wouldn't spend my money on a car like this unless I was afraid to push my foot to the floor from a stop w/o it fishtailing off of the road.

Thumbs up

The Mercury is a civilian version of the Police Package Crown Vic. Same hardware, just fancy tires and wheels, and pretty inside.

Ford wanted to put the 5.4 in the Police Package, but it presently can't keep up with the demand for the 5.4 in the big trucks, Excursion, Expedition, and so on.

In my humble opinion, the souped up 4.6 should be great. The lower end torque of the 5.4 would have just produced alot more wheel spin, and not changed the 0-60 time. The present Police Package with the 4.10 gears is a tire burner off of the line, so the 300hp 4.6 should do just fine.

Just my .02 worth.

P.S. I'm sure that I am of the age that fits perfectly within the marketing group for this vehicle. Those of us who remember and appreciate the good old days of v-8's, skinny tires, 8-tracks, and 100 octane fuel. Oh well.

yes the new altima's claim 240 hp . it should be able to beat this car given it is around 1500# lighter . but that aint the point now is it ? put the same motor out of that altima in a car that weights as much as this one and see how it does..

The boost is only set to 6 in the marauder. With a blower upgrade it would be much faster.

Direct from Ford Fleet Products for the 2002 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor:

I love the new car, but it's not all that. I'm glad Ford fixed the rear seal problem and I can finally go over 110MPH (they governed it in the past because rear seal kept blowing).

I want the Marauder guts in the CV Police Interceptor.
